Silent Strider

Compulsive reader, novice writer.

E

It was a good day for Twilight; tea with Celestia as her lesson on princessly etiquette, an afternoon studying a new and exciting magic branch with Luna, and in the evening a music show.

Until Twilight noticed a cluster of fireworks streaming towards her, that is.

Now Twilight must partner with the prime suspect, the fireworks expert responsible for the concert's special effects, in order to find the real culprit.

Set in the same continuity as Discord Comics and Dream Sparkle, but is an independent story; for those that didn't read Discord Comics, the relevant information missing is that Discord found a pegasus filly he cares about.

Created for the Equestria Daily Writer's Training Ground #008: "Filli Vanilli"

Feel free to point any flaws; it's why I'm taking part in the Writer's Training Grounds, after all.

The last scene in chapter 2 was a bit confusing. It's difficult to keep track of who's talking. You should attribute more often.

Is this the responsible for the earlier incident?

Missing a word after 'the'.

Nice story, and well handled. Well written, too.

I enjoyed seeing Twilight and Trixie work together, as well as act nice to each other, and Twilight recognizing that Trixie is fairly powerful and capable in her own right. Particularly the bit where she intimidated the guy with a makeshift cloak, a stormcloud and a lot of acting, that was golden.

Discord's part was fun too. I'll have to read your other stories later. Always nice to see him help out in his own mischievous way.

I'm going to add this story to some Trixie groups, if you don't mind. It needs more attention.

Thanks for the praise and the suggestions

Well, Trixie's cutie mark seems to be related to magic, and according to Lauren Faust she also attended the same magic school as Twilight, so I tend to assume that she excels at her specialty. Besides, my favorite class in D&D was always the illusionist :twilightsheepish:
(And I do love some Twilight and Trixie friendshipping :trixieshiftright:)

My other stories involving Discord are the ones linked in this fic's description, BTW. The first one, Discord Comics, show were the OC pegasus filly comes from, while Dream Sparkle, while featuring very little of Discord, shows what that bit with the giant birdcage and pink plastic bubble is about. A bit of a warning though, Dream Sparkle was somewhat rushed, which is more visible in it's fourth chapter; I really have to rewrite that chapter someday.

Feel free to add this story to any relevant groups. I didn't start to explore them yet; I only learned about FIMFiction a few days before 2014, and my read later list is still too large for me to consider using groups to increase it :twilightoops:

I like Discord's method of damage prevention: turn the projectiles into baked goods.

Luna and Discord together can be a terrifying combination... I like it!

First thing that crossed his mind :trollestia:
(And mine; this scene was basically what the whole story grew around. Though in the original version Luna wasn't involved. :twilightoops:)

I also like to think that Discord's power do have some limitations, so he is far more effective when it comes to creating, or increasing, chaos. Thus, damage control by turning the damage into an even stranger, though easier to revert, kind of damage, instead of simply making it vanish. And with Luna unwittingly giving him extra ideas...

Well, Luna did want her revenge, and I doubt Discord would pass up the chance to do some havoc
Besides, I believe Discord would have followed Luna even uninvited anyway, just to pester her, given that they were together when a little bird told them what was happening :trollestia:

I have added this story to my new recommendation group here.

Well, certainly a good start.

Premise was enough to get me interested.

So good job.

This was a nice story. Short but to the point.
I loved this line

“Trixie, don’t you think you exaggerated a tiny bit?”
Trixie looked back at the house; even now faint whimpering could be heard coming from inside.
“No.”
