Derring-Do is an aspiring archaeologist studying the long fabled and mythical Lost Kingdom of Thule, a highly advanced civilization that mysteriously disappeared thousands of years ago beneath the depths of the ocean. The key to finding this lost civilization is the lost journal of Clover the Clever, said to have intricate instructions on how to get to Thule. Unfortunately for Derring, she has no evidence for either even existing.
That is, until a mysterious benefactor offers to fund an expedition and take her on her first, and possibly last adventure.
Basically, Disney's Atlantis: The Lost Empire with ponies.

Tough crowd. To be fair to the author, if one hadn't noticed that the name is actually spelled out "Daring Do" on the cover of the books in the show, the natural assumption would be that it is spelled, as the author spelled it, "Derring-Do."

To be frank, I'm making a lot of this up as I go along, I only have a general idea of what's going to happen. A love interest is actually quite the interesting proposition, I might play around with that.
The only thing I'm sure I'm going to change around is the 3rd Act from the movie, I didn't like it that much, it was a little weak.

To clarify on the misspelling of Daring's name:
Derring-Do is essentially the inspiration for Daring Do, the fictional character in the MLP universe. Daring is essentially an exaggeration of her.
I'm more or less basing Derring-Do off of T.E. Lawrence, a clear cut archaeological badass that actually existed.

Aww sweet. You cameo'd the Halo Lightbridge. I loved that thing! And these trials... they weren't in the movie. You have used the power of artistic license and I am loving it.
I mean... lava whales? Lessee... I assume there will be other Trials? The Thulians probably had a heyday making these things.

The Trials indeed weren't present in the movie, however they were intended to be according to it's original script. You'd be surprised how much stuff was in the development of Atlantis: The Lost Empire before Disney execs trimmed it.

Atlantis: The Lost Empire is my favorite Disney movie of all time, and has been since I was a kid. I can never truly hate it.
That movie was my favorite, and is still such today.
Thank you for reigniting my desire to rewatch that amazing movie.
