Equestria may have suffered directly from the war, but nopony there has any idea of the war against the elements occurring far north, in what once was the proud, beautiful Crystal Empire. There, a heart long forgotten waits, buried beneath two centuries of snow, as descendants of survivors fight both the constant snow and each other to survive in the brutal frozen wasteland of the North.
Meanwhile, forces running deeper than the scars of the past begin to awaken under the ancient land, memories of old and nightmares long since dead taking root once again...
Based on kkat's Fallout Equestria, set in a place utterly unreferenced in the original fic, this is my first fanfic. Credit to Cascadejackal for the temporary cover art, and for massive help with editing and bouncing ideas with.

In one of the first sentences of your exposition, you write

It's just very,very, very minor nitpicking, but I think you should add something like husband in front of Shining Armor. Of course, this doesn't compromise the understanding of what you wrote, but it just sounds...weird. As if Shining would be somekind of magical armor. As I said, just minor nitpicking.
I have to admit, I don't really get what has happened in chapter 1, more specifically, who has done what.
As far as I can tell, the Legion attacked the tribe in the tunnels, forcing the non-combatants to flee to the outside. And then there's this fire.
I simply assume the bad guys (the Legion) started the fire somehow, but how did they do this and why (except of course being evil)? And after a battle with no control over the casualties of valuable (to them, since (cliche) scientist usually don't fight) ponies, they want to assimilate whats left.
Don't get me wrong, I "like" where this is going and I'm fully aware of the cruelties any legions committed sometimes, but the whole fire-part seemed a bit...contraproductive.

I got that planned out for later. As for the Shining Armor thing, you have a point, but I was thinking of it in the way of how some couples are written in stories, like "Richard and his Sarah" or something like that. I know it makes it a little weird in this particular instance, due to Shining Armor's name, but as long as the overall understanding isn't lost, I don't think that particular line needs to be changed. That said, I really appreciate that you took the time to give me feedback!

Edit: Oh, and the confusion with who did what is somewhat intentional. I didn't clarify who attacked the tribe in the past, so it can be assumed that Krystal doesn't know either, meaning there might not be records of the official attackers. The Legion started the fire, yes, but in the next few chapters (at least in what I've planned), more will become clear and the reason of the fire will be mentioned. In other words, all will become... Crystal Clear

I had to deal with the silence of mine except it was both writer's block and revisions on the last nine chapters of mine! You have no idea how long it took to revise them just right to the events that changed drastically when I wrote Chapter IX! I'm just glad that I wasn't the only one to deal with silence. I am loving the way this plot is going, I hope to see you trucking and I'll be here trucking on mine as well. If you want to know what my sidefic is called just tell me
