When Spike discovers a terrible secret about Princess Celestia, he decides to single handedly bring all four Alicorn rulers down. But to that, he'll need some help. So he redeems himself in the eyes of his kind, and leads them on a crusade against the ruling powers of Equestria in order to get the ponies of Equestria to see dragon kind as their liberators and benefactors.
Spike's plan closely resembles the plan of a certain Batman villain. . .

I guess I can understand Luna and Celestia, but Twilight's was a complete accident (Seriously, she never had to read a spell aloud before, so it's effect was completely unintended and given the words could have simply been someone's thoughts on something, so she couldn't have known) and Chrysalis replaced Cadance for a specific reason, because of Shining Armor, so her bit was a bit undeserved as well.
It was good.
However
The princess Cadance bit was kind of much. The part about Twilight was going too far even for an AU story. Spike and Twilight are too tight for acts against each other.
You did put an AU tag and did a badass thing on Spike's part so... I will let it slide this time. You get a thumbs up.

Well you could blame it on Celestia, because for her it wasn't an accident. She didn't warn Twilight and she has been seen to destroy ponies lives for her plan.

Honestly for Luna, it was the ponies' fault too NMM happened due to taking Luna's work for granted and not giving her appreciation they gave to Celestia. Luna was suffering pretty much and the ponies basically brought this upon themselves(and Celestia is at fault too for not being there for Luna, not noticing she was in pain before it was too late) but Luna basically had to be forsaken for the sake of the very ponies who caused this suffering to her.(And the fact there's a freaking celebration celebrating the SUN over the moon on the day Luna got sent to the moon, adding so much salt to Luna's wounds)
And the fact NMM would most likely figure out how to prevent everyone from dying due to she is doing eternal night so her night would be loved, not because evil for evulz. It would be against her goals if everyone ends up dying since there would be no one to truly enjoy her night.

Does Spike realize the ponies brought that upon themselves due to taking Luna's work for granted and not giving her appriciation that Celestia had gotten? Luna ended up suffering due to that and how Celestia didn't notice Luna's suffering before it was too late, to the point Luna snapped and became NMM and ended up being forsakened(and essentially forgotten by the time she returns to Equestria pretty much) for the sake of the very ponies who caused this suffering to her. Along with how there's a freaking celebration on the day NMM got banished celebrating DAY over night, pretty much adding salt to Luna's wounds.
If anything, Spike should be convincing Luna to join him pretty much.
And the fact Nightmare Moon would obviously not let everyone freeze to death, she wanted Eternal Night not because "for evulz" but because she wanted her night to be loved. It would be contradicting her goals if everyone ends up dead and no one would be loving her night.
I do wish this had a sequel, or at least an epilogue
