Greetings, citizens! I come bearing many words that may or may not add up to something readable. No promises.
[insert long diatribe and/or attempt at being witty here]
Normally I'd make this post-update, uh, post into something of value, but it's 2AM and I can't be arsed, so...enjoy the chapter! Truly, I am a master of...something.

You have indeed mastered ...something, to a degree I thought impossible.
Truly, you are a god among men.
C'mon, Celestia, you can pull through....she can, right? She's gotta. Either way, this is a joy to read as always.
Hmm.. strange how this is brought up now of all times..

prepare the reserves we need 110% power!
Glad Celestia is at least doing something to help her soldiers out. A shining light barrier sounds so awesome. However, if I was her I would have channeled a little Daybreaker and used the sun to roast the deer Amy and obliterate the entire Redtail nation. They would be an example to other nations to never challenge Equestrian dominance.
Giveāem hell Tia!

I have finally caught up with this story. i'm enjoying it so far. Although from a military standpoint I believe the number of soldiers involved to be too small. Some 13,000 combined forces for the Equestrians and approximately 26,000 for the tree rutting deer.
Even in the early days of the Roman Empire, they had a standing army of about 80,000 - 100,000. While in the latter stages of their reign they had an estimated 250,000 - 350,000. I also feel that in any historical defensive battle, often it took four to five times the amount of attackers to defenders to win the day.
Lord Wellington often used to position his infantry behind hills in advance to enemy artillery bombardment, also in order to hide their real number: particularly during the battles of Busaco and Salamanca but also during the battle of Waterloo, before counter attacking.
Although I understand you are trying to write a large (ish) battle as succinctly as possible while also wrapping up various story ark - This was my major gripe with the last few chapters. Also as someone already mentioned - The Deer are OP.

Well at the beginning they were holding them off but then their forces were forced into disarray after the super deer attack wiping out a significant part of their force. After this the Flame Tornado was turned against them taking out most of their first line defense for the city. As for the deer I agree they're OP, but I feel that's for a few reasons. 1 They are a mixture of the earth ponies and unicorns and due to their antlers are more maneuverable with their weapons. 2 Most of these deer haven't faced combat for as long as the ponies have in this war which can have a significant effect on a soldier's ability to fight.
