Also, not to nitpick at the story, but maybe you could have replaced this with the fact that since magic was involved and is temporary, the child would be an illegitimate one, vanishing once the magic gametes wore off. Then that would force the child to be fed a magic elixir throughout its life, finding out during his or her teen years that he or she isn't a "real" child, and then has to cope with this fact while dealing with love and all that other jazz...
Then a sad tag would be nice. But, that's just me speculating out of proportion and butting in where I shouldn't be

I would make the argument that magic is unnatural and so dying by natural causes would be silly. In that regard, being cursed would be a better way to describe it than a natural death. Also couldn't making the change require the life energy of the subject, instead of causing natural disasters.
Another method could be AJ gets a relative sample say big mac, and that would continue the apple line, or use Rainbow dad on AJ. Actually that sounds pretty creepy, Rainbow would have a sister/daugther never mind.

Yeah, I did get that wrong. But it is pseudo-science to begin with (although heavily rooted in science), and I had meant to say that the gametes don't change with the gender change; so the eggs will remain eggs, even with different...parts...and sperm will remain sperm, along with the fact that the DNA can't be changed and have a child. Because even if the gametes are changed, they'll die.

I could have chosen any other F/F shipping that does not include Twilight and the story would still work. It just that was the first one to pop into my head. Plus, it's a popular ship, so more people would be apt to read it.
I don't particularly like the ship either.

I don't mind the explanation that magic can't produce foals, nor do I object to shooting down a popular ship that way (I had an idea for similar, but mine was more "don't worry, using this to bang each other can't get you pregnant because..." and would probably have been comedy).
But shooting down the idea and the ship would honestly have been enough. Adding that "and then you will be punished with death by the natural forces of the universe" part was just weird and pointless, except maybe as a way to set up the "kill two popular ships" ending. And even then it feels forced.
