Well first I'm curious if this takes place before or after that movie, if after do you want to rewrite it so that it's her castle and not the library? Are you even going to acknowledge the movie? If so you could start it with Twilight being curious to know what Lyra would know about humans without letting her know she has seen them let alone been one. If it takes place before then she could just acknowledge her desire to learn, lead up to the movie and then explain her experience with them...
For the romance of it... Lyra has a thirst for knowledge we can see that and threw learning about humans she will most likely want to know how they utilized different subjects, learn the overview of the subjects and of course then hypothesize on things... Twilight could be attracted to the thirst of knowledge....
This stuff is not very helpful, but I hope it could give you some sort of inspiration....
Either way I still hope you write a new chapter soon, you brought my attention back to this! You must write more! Read other people's stories and get inspection from them too! Good luck!
PS: I also based this on and around humans because of what she wants to study...BUT music is in the title so maybe she could be studying that but the story focus on her breaks and down time as Twilight listens to her music, focus on how she gets drawn closer to her because of the music, she tries to then start a new study of the affects music has on magic and vis versa... just an idea...
