A Royal Pain - Alaborn

An encounter with an exotic mare leaves Prince Blueblood in an unexpected situation, one he will have to deal with for months, eleven months to be specific.

Haha, a lovely end to a lovely story. And such richly, befitting blueblood.

Nice to see a much maligned character undergo a growth of maturity.

Dat ending. :rainbowlaugh:

Now, if I may?

You've written a bit of a sequel hook into this epilogue.

I for one would love to see a sequel in which Blueblood actually does track down the mares he's done this to and tries to do right by them.

4272269 Sorry, but I have so many other story ideas waiting to be written!

Other sequel hooks:

(Serious) Blue Seas learns he's adopted, and searches for his birth parents.
(Not Serious) Discord brings Blueblood into a house with all his illegitimate foals, and the resulting chaos is turned into a reality TV show.

Oooo thats mean!

lol

This is a good chapter... I enjoyed this story highly over the past few, Months? Well its been a wonderful ride that is for sure!

:pinkiehappy:

I do wonder now, how many children Blueblood has sired.

I would like to see a story following his son.

I agree. You should make a sequel about his son.

4272705 Four months, at around 10,000 words per month. It looks like I wrote a little slower than Clean Slate.

4272705 *nods* Its fine. You did an amazing job... Much better then I, I asure you... As I've yet to write chapter 3 of my story. (I also have english problems and its my native language) Anyway... I loved the story, And I'll be sure to check out others you write aswell! :pinkiehappy:

I just read this whole story through, and I must say it is wonderful.

Such a great ride, showing us the depths of Blueblood's earlier depravities as well as the shallows of his character.:raritywink: Then following him on his journey as he struggles and grows, falls back, yet soldiers on through to become a better stallion. Thank you for taking us along on this journey of Blueblood's soul. Each step was believable and quite touching and in the end he hadn't become something completely new, removed from what he had been before, but he had grown with the experience adapting, and becoming some indefinable more.

The only regret, is that Blueblood didn't trust the Goldens. After all that time in Ponyville and with them specifically, he never quite learned how truly they embodied good ponies. I could easily understand why he would want the adoption to be officially anonymous, after all it'd do no good to go through all that subterfuge only to have the adoption be a matter of public record, but the entire time I kept expecting him to let the couple know, and to see his son given into their care. Guess I'm a big softie.:twilightsheepish:

4339571 Thanks! I just really couldn't see Blueblood wanting anypony to know about his pregnancy, no matter how good the ponies were.

But, you know, I have some ideas about how he could meet his son some years down the line. Just another story idea. So many stories, so little time.

"Watch where you stick your dick."
Sound, sound advice. Some of the best advice ever put to works, in fiction as in real life.

Ah, some witty evasion. The tonal shift from Ponyville to this is delightful. Though I'll add I'm also a little glad Blueblood's friends are both astute and understanding chaps. Just as friends should be.

I'm still a little surprised, though, as just how cavalier everypony seems to be about their illegitimate bastards. I guess in pony society, unlike the human one, they've been more structurally marginalized when it comes to inheritance and other issues. Maybe that's what happens with you have a perfect equestrian social services net! lol
Anyway, I'd given this a thumbs-up way back when I first read it, when it was just two or three chapters. That vote-up remains. I enjoyed the story, despite some initial and tentative reservations. Kudos.

4383712 I was drawing on the great history of bastard children of medieval nobility. Without getting into specifics, it's just accepted that noble ponies have their official lineages and don't acknowledge their bastard foals. Nobles like Blueblood screw around because they can get away with it without consequence. (At least if they remember their seapony biology!)

A story about the conflict between ancient noble privileges and the modernizing pony society would be an interesting story, but it's not this story. I wasn't writing this as social commentary, but something more like the movie Junior.

After realizing the sequel was, in fact, a sequel, I knew I had to read this story. I'm very glad I did. Good Blueblood stories are by no means easy to come by, but this was a very good Blueblood story. He grew, yes, but he's still clearly himself. Thank you for an excellent tale.

4534283 I could have sworn you read the original story. After all, you do seem to comment on everything, FanOfMostEverything.

I was a little surprised (and sad) that Blueblood didn't settle down with Melodia...

I meant about aborting the foal... if that was not something you were referring to with the last sentence of your other comment, I apologize.

I guess that in such a society so used to magic, that would be the equivalent of tossing him a disguise and have it fall on his head. Not something that actually merits anything more than a groan - it wasn't as if she altered his actual, physical form or made a dramatic change of appearance like turning him pink.

7595288 Well Starlight didn't really get away with it, zombifying your friends isn't a good way to end up on Hearths Warming present list. And Twi learned the hard way way back with Smarty Pants.:twilightoops: So I think Twi is probably right to be angry and somewhat scared of it.:twilightsheepish:

It comes from Harry Potter. There's no mythological significance. So if this isn't a Harry Potter crossover...

That last one liner got me. :D

Rather fun story, have to say I didn't mind how thin the clop was in this as the character work was pretty good. Going to have to read the sequel.

So admittedly, I don't really read M-rated fics, mostly just because I'm an admitted prude in this regard. :derpytongue2:

But after stumbling across this fic entirely by accident via a seemingly unrelated search, the premise seemed interesting enough that I made an exception on a whim, and ultimately walking away pretty satisfied. At a glance one would think the fic just one of those fetishy clop fics, but while it does have that, that's not really what it is at all. It's more a--honestly casual--character study of Blueblood on a whole, and one that was ultimately fruitful, as you can clearly sense his growth as a character all throughout, and it's definitely for the better. And that's really where the fic shines the most, and I think that's for the better for it as well.

I will have to find the time to sit down and read the sequel in the near future. :raritywink:
