After many centuries, Princess Celestia gets to truly enjoy the dawn of perhaps the first new day Equestria has seen in ages.

A very short reflective one-shot, inspired by the works of fellow authors Martian and Hoof and Quill.

Now featuring a Dramatic Reading!

You know that I tend to enjoy character-based oneshots with lots of introspection, and this certainly fits the bill. Twilight and Celestia both are solidly in character and I like your take on their thoughts in this transitional period for the both of them. Very well done, and I'm glad you've posted this.

This was a truly lovely little piece, and a very warm note to have you return on.

Welcome back!

Good to be back, my friend. I'd been re-reading a lot of your stuff (along with Hoof And Quill's "Half Hour Horses" one-shot collection,) and this idea just came to me and I banged this out in a hour. TOTALLY not how I usually work. But it scratched an itch and let me flex a few writing muscles. Thanks for giving it a shot.:scootangel:

Nice world-building and sense of humor around something that is really pretty sad. Thumbs up!

Thank you very much... There is a tinge of sadness there, but Celestia wouldn't want anypony to be sad about it. She of course would break all of this as gently to Twilight as she could, to get her ready for the hardest parts of being so long-lived. I've always seen her as a kind soul like that. Twilight will probably surpass her one day, she knows it, and it makes her very happy.

A beautiful little story. It deals so gently with a touchy subject of a long life preparing to pass on. It doesn't feel sad, just wistful. The feeling of so many memories, good and bad, that she acknowledges as behind her really give a palpable feeling that she has come fully to peace with her fate and simply wants to enjoy life as it is while it's there. I really must check out more of your work.

Thank you for the very kind words! Been a while since I posted, and I'm a little rusty. This was a nice little exercise, I enjoyed doing it and I should think I'll do more in this style in the future. I really do like Celly, so you'll probably see me write her again.

I like this. Just enough pride in there to stave off any sad feelings.

From time to time, I revisit items in my Favorites folder. Today I reread this little gem. Thank you for sharing it with us.

A beautifully written dosage of bittersweet wistfulness, one that seems especially pertinent given that the show's final season has chosen to go down a similar path. Indeed, all things must pass.

Have a Favorite! :pinkiehappy:

P.S. I've always been more of a Paul person, but I love George's work almost as much (maybe even more than Paul, depending on my mood).
