I Told You Not To Push That Button!

Author's Note:

I'm SO sorry that this is so late (Almost 3 months). Many things got in the way and I have no good excuse. Please forgive me. :fluttercry:

KA-BOOM!!

An explosion rocked the bridge causing the members of the Lyons’ Pride and Sally, a young girl they had found captive on the ship, to brace themselves to avoid falling over.

“Shit! That last hit took out two of our generators and they aren’t resetting!!” Paladin Glade shouted before the console in front of him blew up knocking him back.

“Glade!” Jonathan shouted as Sarah fired their own Death Beam at the other ship. Vaulting over the railing that stood between him and the fallen Paladin while pulling out a Stimpack from the medkit he carried.

His hands moved quickly as he jabbed the hypodermic needle into the man’s neck. Not something that he’d normally do, but right now he had to act fast. They were losing the fight against the other ship and if they could destroy the Alien’s ship before their own vessel was destroyed then he would have more time to treat Glade. At least the Stimpack would stabilize him hopefully long enough for the fight to end.

Several more explosions racked the bridge knocking several other members of the Lyons’ Pride away from the consoles that they had manned. Tossing some of his Stimpacks towards the still conscious members John ran up towards Sarah and the Death Ray controls. Stopping next to her he began using the console to turn their power away from their dwindling shields and to power the Death Ray.

“Are you crazy? We need the shields powered to NOT die!” Sarah shouted at him while waiting for the Death Ray to charge up.

“No, we just need one good hit.” John replied not looking at his CO. “Sally can you target their Death Ray? We might be able to destroy it at full power and stop their attacks.”

The blonde girl replied, “Probably, but it’ll be a hard target to hit.” as she began re-aiming the Death Ray. They two Brotherhood of Steel soldiers watched her anxiously while looking every now and then at the ship that was attacking them. The Alien’s Death Ray started glowing brighter causing John to worry.

“Come on, come on.” He muttered under his breath as the glow intensified.

“It’s ready! FIRE!!” Sally shouted and both Sarah and John smashed their fists onto the button that triggered the Death Ray. The bright blue beam shot forth from their ship as the Alien’s own fired as well.

Then the world faded to white.

As the world slowly came back into focus for Jonathan the sounds of alarms assaulted his eardrums. Lights were flickering on and off around him and he could feel several broken bones scattered throughout his body. Groaning in pain, John forced himself up while trying to ignore the sound of his medic armor stuttering to him

“Be a s-s-s-soldier, not a c-c-civie! Have some j-j-j-juice and suc-k-k it up-p-p-p.”

He felt a slight prick in his arm before his pain began to numb, though he struggle for a moment to regain enough of his motor control to pull himself to his feet.

The first thing he noticed was that the glass viewports at the front of the bridge had several large cracks in them. They appeared fragile, as if one touch would cause them to fall apart. He saw that beyond the glass wasn’t the serene quiet of space, but white, lots and lots of white. “That can’t be.” he muttered to himself, “Is that snow?”

Forcing himself to turn away Jonathan began moving around the lower bridge looking for a way up. He had to make sure the Pride was ok first, then he would worry about where they were.

The crash had added even more damage to the already severely damaged ship from what John could see. Most, if not all, of the railings that were scattered throughout the bridge had broken and smashed through the consoles that were near. Sections of the walls and ceiling had collapsed allowing the supports to hang down on partially severed cables.

After moving some of the rubble that covered the stairs John began pulling himself up to the main deck of the bridge. Scanning the area he saw that the other members of the Lyons’ Pride were scattered throughout the bridge. They were all still unconscious from the impact. Paladin Vargas was pinned beneath one of the fallen support beams, while Knight Captains Gallows and Dusk were leaning on the nearest consoles. The rest of the pride were scattered throughout the ruined bridge either lying on or buried under some rubble.

Spotting Sentinel Lyons unconscious near the captain’s chair John double timed it over to his CO. “Sentinel Lyons! Sentinel…Sarah wake up!” Every time he spoke her name he shook her until finally he began slapping her saying with every hit “Wake. Up. Wake. Up.”

Finally after what seemed like hours she woke with a start and landed a punch on Jonathan’s face, breaking his nose. John backed away clutching his now broken nose as Sarah got to her feet. She glared at him while he forced his nose back into place with a SNAP. “That was for crashing the ship.” She said to him.

“It’s not my fault that the aliens took us down with them.” John said back to her with a glare. It wasn’t his fault that a section of the other mothership had crashed into them after it blew up. Hell, it was his idea that blew up the aliens in the first place, at the cost of their other two generators. He spotted Sarah rolling her eyes at him as he walked over to the other members of the Pride that was lying near a hole in the floor.

“How are they?” she asked him as she walked next to the Lyons’ Pride’s best (and only) medic.

“From what I can see so far, we were very lucky. A few burns, broken bones, bruising, some minor hemorrhaging. All in all, we could have ended up a lot worse.” Jonathan explained as he began looking around the room for his medkit. Spotting it on the lower level, he started towards it with a groan when a roar reverberated from deeper in the ship. Both conscious Brotherhood soldiers looked towards the hole in the floor. “I really hope that was the sound of something dying.” John said as he moved faster towards the medkit pausing after a second.

“Wait, where’s Sally?”

Frost Morning led the squad of troops through one of the blinding blizzards that roamed the Frozen North. They had been sent by Prince Armor to perform reconnaissance about the fallen object and make sure it posed no threat to the Empire. Since the fall of Sombra, the guard had started back into a monotonous routine that Frost was happy to break and go into the arctic climate to find a fallen rock. It was better than standing like a statue in the empty halls of the Palace, where the only ponies he saw pass where the staff and, occasionally, Princess Cadence or Prince Armor.

A monstrous cry was heard over the roaring blizzard, causing all the Guardsponies to grip their spears tighter and look around for the source of the noise. “Shield, that better have been your stomach.” One of the guards said to another soldier who shook his head.

“I wish it was.” he replied as the blizzard slowly started to die down. The roar was heard from closer than before followed by the cries of Corporal Shield. “Aaahhh! It’s on me!” he shouted. Frost turned quickly along with the other soldiers to see a strange, bipedal creature pinning the Corporal to the ground and clawing at his face, blood staining the white snow red. It was extremely thin with its ribs showing through its reddish skin. Its sunken, milky white eyes were watching Shield with hunger not noticing Frost’s spear being shoved towards its its chest until it drew blood. Screaming in pain it staggered off Corporal Shield and roared at Frost with its arms outstretched before charging at him.

“Sentry, get to Shield! Everypony else take this thing down!” Frost shouted swinging his spear at the creature as the other guards followed suit. It roared in pain slashing futilely at the ponies as the spears, cut across its chest, letting a few rotten organs fall out. With a final stab by Frost the creature fell to the ground dead. A few of the soldiers, who hadn’t been a part of the guard from before the Empire disappeared, stared at the creature in horror as the little blood it had stained the snow.

“Oh Celestia.”

“We killed something.”

“I think I’m going to be sick.”

“Stallion up men.” Frost said to them. “We can’t afford having you chicken out now. We have a mission and we’re going to finish it.” He glared at them. Ponies had gotten so wimpy in the thousand years that he’d been gone. As the soldiers were getting their act together more cries, both similar to the creature’s and others, were heard. Frost’s eyes widened as he saw the shapes of more creatures, like the one they killed, and others were seen through the dying blizzard. His mouth dropped as the blizzard died completely revealing a large, metallic, disk-shaped structure lying in the snow.

“Is that?”

“No bucking way.”

“They’re aliens!?!?!”

The cries of the guards snapped Frost out of his trance. “Boys, it seems that our mission just got a lot harder.” He said to them as a few of the creatures noticed the squad and started towards them.
