i don't really know that. I am not one of those that dress up but if i had a costume of my OC furry i would wear it. it's like you could actually be your OC that be so awesome .
but my guess is that it's kinda like art or drama some people like it others don't. i guess i'm one of those people but if your a brony you should respect furries they have been hated as much as bronys for a longer time and it still going.

Hollow Shades is surrounded by a forrest that is over Foal Mountain to the north-east of Everfree. I'm geussing magic was involved in Mal getting there by falling. A summoning by the Pooka? By Virgil? Wild mass guessing commence

I'm kinda curious what Celestia is up to right now. With a major fail-safe set-up like the one she pulled it must have had an alarm. Seriously, a caged demon from Tartarus? Wow! At least she is intelligent and thinks ahead. Nice going there showing the planning side of Celestia. Anyway, either she was too occupied to respond to the the failsafe, or she was spying on them with scrying or from the bushes.

Kinda sucked that both Malideus and Virgil weren't in top form when facing the demon, but hey that kinda was the point of the failsafe activating right as Virgil woke up. Wait, did the failsafe need remote activation? In other words a two step process. Alarm activates and establishes a scrying spell on the site. Celestia says, "Badass demon I choose you!"

Maybe I'm just overthinking this. Anyway, good chapter. Lood forward to the next one

P.S. Great job on Virgil. Diplomatic and charismatic is what I expected from him. I'm still wondering what the deal is with Kinua. Definitely looked like there was some history between her and Virgil, whether romantic or otherwise I couldn't say. Although whatever it was at least it didn't stop her from helping him.

Honestly, I had a trans-dimensional transporter that broke the 5th wall, I would use it to go into the mlp universe, and honestly I would call the furries who wear the weird costumes brave, because they did that. I understand what it's like to under the spotlight, since I wrestle, it sucks, a lot. But you get over it. I feel bad for furries and wish they were tolerated but they won't be, because there different, and society hates different.

P.s. I would like to be my OC, but not his nephew, Kight, or whatever, you'll find out eventually if you read the story.

Virgil is a necromancer who cannot die, or age, or really acknowledge time's cruel grip in any way. His lands are full of the restless dead, spirits, and resurrected dead who don't want to leave the mortal plane, so he created this stretch of land to house them. That's why Kherrie couldn't pin Malideus down: It wasn't her forest anymore.
