This was a nice oneshot, but I feel like you could have explained the situation a little better. Why were they heading towards the mountain? Where had their home gone? What exactly happened to put them in this situation? It would have made for a much longer oneshot, but it was still a good piece of writing that, with a little extension, could be a great piece of writing. Upvoting.

Glad you all liked this story. I was aiming for a "flash-fiction-esque" style of writing [I only say that because real flash-fics are much shorter; min. 300 words
If it made you feel sad, then it fulfilled its purpose. Goes to show that you don't need a lot of backstory to tell a good tale.

You just shattered my heart, threw the remains in a blender, and then turned the rest to ash with a flamethrower. Oh man, the feels. It would be nice to know how they ended up in the situation they were in though. All I can say for this fic is that I hope that sweetie and scoots are both happy in heaven together.
