Dear Diary,
Well, after the excitement this morning, I found it really hard to get back to work. I guess Elusive wanted to get in Mac's good graces, so he offered to help out with the farm chores. I know you shouldn't laugh at your special somepony, but it was kind of funny, cute really, watching him try to buck trees and pull stumps. He's no wimp or weakling, compared to most stallions, but when you compare him to a farm or rodeo pony, well, it doesn't matter. I love him whether he's got big muscles or not.
After lunch, we went with Pinkie to set up the welcome party at Alex's place. Everybody's going to be there and I want to show my new special friend off. I can't wait to share this with my best gal pal. I still feel bad about what happened, with Alex and all, and I know I haven't spent much time with RD. I just hope she's really forgiven me.
It's now about half an hour before the train arrives. This will be a great day for all of us.
Signed,
A Very Happy Applejack
Half an hour eh?
This will be a great day for all of us. Hmmnn, famous last words?

Don't like Elusive. Essentially nothing but a pointless OC created just so that everypony gets a "happy ending" and so AJ does not end up alone and sad which would piss off the reader.
1112877 Isn't that what most OC's are in the end? At least, in a romance story.
1113193
Or extreme antagonists who kill everything they please.
1113417 .... *Checks for cameras* I swear people are spying on me.. I mean Applesauce! Anyway, that too!
It's some nice whether we are having.
When Alex gets home: "Hey everyone, nice to be back! How are you all? Good? Good. OH! By the way, I'm dyeing, so... ya.
Wonder if there's going to be any resentment what-so-ever from Applejack towards Alex, a love-triangle returning leaving Elusive out-to-grass.
Not only that but it would be really something if there's mischievousness behavior between Alex and Twilight, or all three of them whilst they were away! Leave us surprised good sir I look forwards to seeing how this pans out!

Oh, my dear Vanathor. Once you see what I have in store, you will spend the next two years of your life learning everything about me. Once you discover I hate mincemeat pies, you will spend the next six months learning how to make the perfect mincemeat pie and perfecting carving a perfect image of Applejack bucking in the crust. You will then ambush me at work, during a meeting with the CEO and all the major shareholders, informing everyone I'm a brony and slamming the pie in my face, screaming, "That's for Applejack, you heartless monster!".
Or, you could just giggle.
I'm good either way.

All kidding aside, I just wanted a male buddy for Alex, and setting him up with AJ seemed to be the natural thing to happen. Let's face it, males are thin on the ground in MLP.
Really, any writer other than some person who works for Hasbro or the animation house that does the show is making an OC, as far as I'm concerned. Only the canon, "I can go to the show and see it in an unmodified officially animated clip" characters and dialog are the real deal. Everything else is a fan interpretation and an original work, if you will.
Not trolling, just throwing out my opinion.
However, I totally understand and respect your opinion of Elusive and I want to sincerely thank you for voicing it.
Well, it may be because of my own creativity, but I've thought up eight different ways this whole thig could go sideways, and I'm honestly terrified. Though mind you, this could also be a fantastic turning point as well... And it doesn't have to go all right or all wrong either. One or the other or both. As the author, I leave it up to you. Can't wait for the next chapter.
1115854 'Fore you go and make assumptions, I don't hate Elusive. But lets face it, in almost ANY romance ship/story/sideplot in the fangrounds of MLP:FIM the male OC is paired up with one of the mane six PURELY for the romance. Or because we need that mane six character shipped with a pony that ain't male.
It is what it is. Honestly I personally would have found a tension filled relationship romantic triangle with the main character committing to neither would have been more interesting then the way you handled it, but then I am not the author of your fic. Regarding the actual fic that the Diary is based off of, I was turned off by it because the multitude of early cliches in the first handful of chapters (Rich but good/Tragic Backstory/Looking For Love/Hapiness/Etc) I feel as though tbh that a lot of it could use a serious rewrite to up the level of the prose, but that may be just me.
The OC-For-Everponies-Lovelife- was simply the nail that more or less kinda spoiled the fic for me for good. Still it takes lots of effort and persistance to write as much as you have, and I have to give credit where credit is due in that regard. Please no I am being totally serious and I am not trying to bash what you are writing or be a troll, just my honest opinion.

I guess that explains how close those two are when Alex was gone.
