Trixie has been run out of Ponyville twice. Since then, finding meals and somewhere to sleep has been a struggling challenge for the former show mare. When she ends up stumbling into Ponyville once again, she finds herself waking up in the homestead of the pony who had caused a lot of her troubles. The town's local librarian, Twilight Sparkle.
The two soon form beautiful friendship that buds into something more. How exactly do you tell you friends that you are in love with the pony that enslaved their town? Let's just say this does not end up well for either of them.

I can see that it helps advance the plot, and was great to see Twilight go all Mama Bear instead of waffling, but still. I think fanon has carried this a bit too far.

Well, while she's never physically attacked anyone with provocation, she has always had sort of a "shoot first, ask questions later" mentality, especially in the earlier episodes. With that said, it wouldn't be surprising if Rainbow reacted towards Trixie, the same mare who humiliated her, AJ, and Rarity, caused two colts to lead an Ursa Minor into the town due to her boasting, drove Twilight out of town, and enslaved all of Ponyville, in a more violent manor than say...if Gilda showed back up in town. Granted, saying that Trixie deserved to die for her actions is definitely going too far, which she did an almost immediate 180 on, especially when Twilight laid the Pimp Slap across her face.
4685732 Given that Gilda physically assaulted Pinkie Pie and made Fluttershy cry without provocation, while Trixie only humiliated Dash after the latter openly provoked her and tried to ruin her show, I'd say that she'd have more reason to punch out Gilda.
Sorry, it's just that Trixie so very, very often gets set up as a villain and a target and a punching bag for the 'heroes' to wail on, while the authors forget that the 'heroes' have done a lot of bad things too (which is either glossed over or forgiven). It just makes the 'heroes' look bad to me.

Well, you got to remember that when it comes to the ponies in this world, almost all of them see thing's only in black and white, with no gray area at all. They only see good beings or bad beings, with no neutral grounds. Because the mane 6 do way more positive things than negative, it causes them to be able to get away with the negative things a little too easily.
Now, I get what you're saying. I like Trixie as well, and I like seeing stories where she redeems herself, but it's not believable if she just shows up after everything that's happened and the rest of the main six are all hugs and forgiving. Pinkie might though, but that's Pinkie for you
. Now the other extreme of kill on sight is stupid as well, since the popular headcanon is that everyone is taught to never kill another being for any reason. Now Im withholding on where this sits on that meter since we've only seen Rainbow's reaction, which as I stated, started to change imediately after Twilight pimp slapped her and seemed to change more so after talking to her.
