This had a pretty nice feeling to it, initially. Cadance's journal looked interesting enough, with all of your different descriptions of Cadance's moods.
Not sure I like the different lines of dialogue fighting within her mind; I get that every voice needs to be distinguished from each other, but it still looks rather messy. Probably can't be helped though.

I could have done it in different colors but that would have hurt my eyes.

I really enjoyed this, although I could not sense a kind of sentimental value towards to diary from Cadance. Nothing suggesting she was writing in an important artefact of her childhood, gifted to her from such an important family figure that ultimately caused every aspect of her life.
This was a very well written fiction, however. I had already welled up on the second paragraph, knowing what the plot was going to be about (though towards the end was abruptly surprised by what happened - I applaud you for that effort). Good job.
