Pretty great story!!:raritystarry:

SKWEEEEEEEEEEE!

:rainbowlaugh:

Yeah, Rainbow Dash loves function over form. And I'm deeply impressed by any author that makes Rarity such a sympathetic character. (She's my least favorite among the Mane 6.)

You did a wonderful job!

Appreciated!

And indeed, few people expect the Rarity. Which is why I love her, and writing for her. :raritywink:

We-heh-ell then, not bad at all. Really quite enjoyed the whole idea of this story. Very much liked how Rarity was portrayed as being able to take a shot at her livelihood when she knew something much bigger was revealed subtly. Although I wasn't sure about Rainbow kissing the hoof, it can be ignored easily enough. Nice job :pinkiehappy:

You may want to reword it where it says "and soon they were both sky high." :rainbowlaugh:

Ah, but as a rule, my wordplay is both intentional and vicious. :pinkiehappy:

OH, RAINBOW DASH, YOU CHARMER! Great story, and all grammatically correct and everything (a "rarity" for this site)! Of course, you gotta remember that Rainbow Dash ALWAYS dresses in style :rainbowdetermined2:

awesome, dainty Dash is adorable, I think Rainbow Dash is the most undiscovered of the mane 6, she has so much backstory and feelings that never get expressed, I think what you did here opened up both Dash and Rarity very well. They aren't two dimensional at all, though I think these two get portrayed that way the most. 7 stars! [i wish]

Oh dear. Rainbow Dash wants a easy Sonic Rainboom? With the Pegasus Special, it will be as easy as pie!

"I baked you a pie!"
"Oh BOY! What flavor?"
"-PIE FLAVOR!-"

Definitely some of the best-written Rarity I've seen. It's hard to keep all her major traits in balance, I think. Amazing how easy it is to forget that she's the Element of Generosity- and that doesn't just mean freely giving stuff. The way some people write her, you'd think she was the Element of Beauty (which spot she could probably fill too if it existed and she wanted it- hard to say if she would or not).

Very nice little bit of writing here, much appreciation for it.

A very nice story. I really do believe the relationship between Rarity and Rainbow hasn't received anywhere near the amount of attention it deserves in the actual show and it's always nice to see a well written fic which expands upon it a bit. They truly aren't so very different, especially when you consider that Find a Pet made it quite clear that Rainbow Dash does, in fact, care about style and appearance.. Anyway, the idea of Rarity helping Rainbow become more aerodynamic was a nice one.

Indeed, I've always loved the Rarity/Dash dynamic because it is so fun to find common ground between two characters who are supposedly so different. I'd love to explore it further if I can think up a good scenario for it. Thanks!

I kinda think Rarity is Too girls there I said it too Girly
Always caring about Every detail :twilightangry2:

Ah, what a brilliant little story! Good pacing, clever plot... just a perfect little fic, easily the best in the series so far.

The character interaction was marvelous. Once again you've nailed Rarity's voice, and the layers you've added to Dash's personality make squee. (Seriously, I become giddy whenever her tender, vulnerable side shows itself.) I'm especially impressed by how well you worked with such an unlikely pair. Rarity and RD have so little in common, but you've found a scenario that makes good use of both characters.

Of all of the dynamics between the Mane Six, I find Rainbow/Rarity to genuinely be the most interesting. Most of the others are easy to connect and write themselves but try to write these two together and... it may be a little tougher (not by much though, I'd say!) but whatever comes out will invariably be an adventure. Usually in hilarity!

...never tried shipping the two, but that's just mainly because I work a little slowly. :twilightsheepish:

Ultra-thanks for the feedback! Now that you've hit the part where I almost sort of know how to write something, I look forward to seeing how the rest of your adventure here turns out. :raritywink:

Love this story, you are an amazing writer.
This also reminds me that I still have a draft for a similar story that kind of goes in the opposite direction. It's a silly little concept about how RD's mane actually wasn't rainbow-colored until she performed her first Sonic Rainboom (strong burst of weather magic and all that), and that a side effect of it would make the mane spring back to it's original form whenever somepony (like Rarity) tries to style it. :derpytongue2:

Thank you!

And honestly? That... sounds like an amazing idea. :raritystarry: One I never would have thought of, either! You should totally get on that.

3011706

I'll make sure to tell you when I upload it.
...Actually, I've never had a proofreader before. If you have the time it would certainly be an honor.

It was Season 1. Far easier to experiment with unicorn powers back then. :raritywink: Honestly, I still use it a lot in my stories.

3038482
There's nothing wrong with it -- it was just a new variant on unicorn magic for me.

3038495

Heh heh. well, then, glad you enjoyed!

Honestly, I always thought Rarity's magical affinities would make her one great secret agent. :pinkiehappy:

3038521
 I think I'll need some convincing with that one. Finding the villain's vault of gems? She's your girl. Finding the hidden microfilm? ------> :raritydespair:

One day I'm going to have to make my case with a story, but until then, here's a proof of concept by a dear friend of mine.

That was a very nice and sweet story. Thank you!

3248948

Awww -- thank you! I'm glad you enjoyed it!

Much joy was had reading this story!

ONLY one flaw was found...

You've oft made

Often I think you where meaning to say here

This is a really charming, beautiful story...

I'm trying to say more but can't really think of it. It's certainly... right, I guess -- effortlessly in-character -- an interaction so naturally beginning stormy, ending sweet...

This is the sort of story that I love FIM for.

Another shiny diamond in the rough.
Well done! :pinkiehappy::pinkiehappy:

3007243
Oh hey I read that. xD

5109001

Hooray!

And you only read it because Bookish taught me how to promote it. I didn't even know about the magic of groups, back then. :twilightsheepish

effortlessly in-character

You know, I don't think anyone realizes that this is how Rarity really IS.

Bookish gets her, she really does.

And here we see Bookish at her natural habitat, writing ponies in character and writng friendships so strong, that I almost can see it happening in show. Personally, I am afraid of her writing a Fluttershy and Rainbow Dash friendship moment, this shipper will not survive.

Anyway, all of this project was great, I had a great time featuring them.

I wish they communicated in the series like this. Never see Rarity and Rainbow talk much or even hang out much together other than in the main group.

8397342

Probably both. I've always tended to write like I'm an unpaid member of dhx's freelance pool. :pinkiehappy:

The secret is they really wouldn't need to pay me

Rainbow Dash huffed. "Hey, we ain't perfect, okay? Weather-ponies made a bad prediction, and I'm a lot better at creating and preventing storms than messing around with ones already in progress! Whoa, hang on--I gotta do a barrel roll!"

Do a barrel roll!

I regret nothing!

"ponniquin" XD

9017436

You'll also notice that Rainbow used the boost to get through.

9017521
Actually, I missed that. =/

The show itself didn't get around to doing an episode specifically about these two until season eight, and here you are nailing the dynamic long before season one had finished airing. :rainbowlaugh:

A shrill scream stopped the pegasus in the middle of her proverb. She looked around frantically. "What? What is it? Where's the danger?"

"Right here," moaned Rarity, gesturing to her now disheveled mane and coat. "Just look at us!"

:rainbowlaugh: x2

I'm not sure I have much to add that prior commenters didn't already say. Like episode 3, this one benefits from having more breathing room to work with. Both characters are practically perfect here: Rarity's a total diva who's still the most insightful, giving person you could ever hope to meet, while Rainbow Dash is brash and insecure and wears her heart on her sleeve. Together they fight crime Being total opposites doesn't mean they can't find common ground to connect over, and when they do, it feels like the most natural thing in the world.

Top shelf.

orp

To second an anonymous commenter's sentiment from ten years ago, I could easily see this Rainbow Dash always dress in style at some point in her life.
