Small note here: without a spell, twilight can't walk on clouds....still great min-series though....

Thanks! And you're quite right--this was written a few weeks before Sonic Rainboom aired and we knew the full properties of clouds.
Much like Dash's house floating everywhere, I decided to simply embrace what's there and run with it while keeping track for future stories.
Hee! I love your idea of Hopscotch. And it would still be a good game among the Pegasi, even if it's not QUITE canon any more.

Who says it's not canon? There's been nothing in canon to disprove that game.

more please...
Shouldn't it be 'hooves-free page turning'?
Beautifully done.
Friendship is best magic.
Loved this story. Glad to see it up here on FIM Fiction. Dash's directness is always great when coupled with Twilight's...twilightyness

After reading 'Polaris', I started reading this one. Very fun. And who's to say Twilight didn't use this sort of thing to help discover that spell, or her ability to cast it? Considering the spell she created just from having fun ...

Seems I'm not the only one working backwards from the north star.
That was a pleasant read, and a very neat way of setting up Twilight's future character development. You do a great job capturing that new, still-developing relationship she must've had with Rainbow in the early episodes. They were both a little anti-social back then, when Twilight was more of an introvert and Rainbow was more abrasive, so it's sweet to see those two hit it off so well.

Thanks!
Fun fact: There's an original version of this which is waaaaaaaaaaay more talky and a lot less, uh, active. Needless to say it got scrapped and rewritten into what you just read. I really had to analyze Rainbow's character for this back then.
If only the episode which aired the very next week after I posted this hadn't torpedoed the cloud-walking premise.

Either that, or Twilight wasn't ever really 'just' a unicorn ...
Twilight Sparkle casted the cloud waling spell before dash took her there. She did it on reflex and the thundercloud parted ebfore she could land.
There, pre-episode plot hole covered and quite frankly, I loved this sweet moment way to much to care
Never say forever, Twi!
Welp. That happened. BRAVO.
This was cute. ^_^ And yes, TwiDash. I was half-ready to eat my words there. =P
do I really have this in me right now
probably not
...gonna try anyway
Oh good, Rainbow Dash is dragging someone away in a sudden fit of pique to force them into an uncomfortable situation for their own good. At least no one got punched this time.
That kind of impetuousness really does suit her, though, and Twilight's bluntness and lack of awareness of other people's feelings until she's made to look right at them feels authentically early series. This story's got more room to breathe than the last two, and both characters benefit from the slower burn.
Pegasi having physical interactions with clouds is something I always found emblematic of the series' charm. It's an idea that resides purely in the realm of fantasy, but it's introduced as being a mundane part of somepony's job. That mingling of whimsy and realism gave FiM's world its edge, and using the idea for a pegasus twist on something as familiar as hopscotch fits right into that niche.
And then it gets heartwarming.
This one holds up.
congratulations on anticipating non-pegasus cloudwalking, Sonic Rainboom, and Starlight's levitation =p
