Okay, a FEW notes about this story:
1) It isn't written very well, and I know a lot of people will comment that characters are not very deep, or other stuff like that. This story was not meant to be perfect. The fact that I came up with the idea, drafted it, and wrote it all in less than 12 hours is a miracle in itself, so don't be so cynical when this story falls short of perfection!
2) I don't know how things work in an animation studio, having never worked in one. So if details describing situations in the work area seem wrong, I don't know how it does work, so once again, sorry.
4) If somehow the message does not get across, and you are somehow offended by the story, or the errors of my writing, or any number of things, I don't really care. Go ahead and rant about how the story sucked, what's done is done. I only wrote this because of how I feel about Derpy's voice being changed, and the reaction that came from it.
5) If you want a "good" story, read some of my other stories!

I was almost in tears. I wasn't about to cry but I still loved it.
Ehh - sorry for nitpicking, but it is kind of my thing.
All through this, I was twitching at every comment that referenced how he worked for Hasbro. No. MLP is owned by Hasbro - they didn't animate it themselves. They farmed it out to Studio B, in Canada. Faust was given creative control over the series by Hasbro. Hasbro _did_ have to give everything the once over before they sent it off to The Hub for airing.
Next, you have Jon get offended by Mr Long assuming he modeled the character after himself. Why? If you have a distinctive attribute, and create an OC character based on yourself, you give it the attribute - it's how people know it is meant to be you. I know he didn't mean to in the story, but it is an easy enough mistake to make. After what Mr Long went on to say, however, unless Hasbro has a division in the afterlife (which, to be honest, wouldn't really surprise me all that much), I'd say he got off incredibly lightly.
Now, aside from those issues with minor details, this was a pretty decent story.
Also, 259831 , I heard that when the voice actor did Derpy, she was under the impression Derpy was supposed to be a boy. If you look at that scene whilst beleiving she is a boy - the voice makes sense. So, the main reason for this furore is somebody forgot to tell the VA she was voicing a _female_ character.

I think that Cobra Commander has rebelled against Hasbro and taken over the company. That's the only explanation as to why they did this to Derpy.

Honestly I don't think Derpy is gone or dead as people keep saying and the message of this story only strengthens my resolve that as long as there are bronies there will be a Derpy Hooves and always be a Derpy Hooves.
Okay, i've received quite a few messages about my story, and how Derpy was not cancelled. That's point of the story was not to whine about what happened with Hasbro and the change in Derpy's voice. The moral is, as many people already know, is no amount of cancellations can ever get rid of the Derpy we all know and love. Just because her name, voice, and eyes had to be changed for legal reasons, does not mean that Derpy is any different for us. She still stands for all the things she used to, and as long as WE hold on to her, like Jonathon in the story says, she never going to go away.
You know, reading this has made me think... people say that Derpy is offensive for having crossed eyes and being rather klutzy... However, how is it any less discriminatory to say that she's not normal because of those things, to say that in order to be normal she must look and sound like everybody (or in this case, everypony) else?
in the tv show. derpy will continue to be there, as a backround character. maybe she wont have derped eyes anymore like she used too. but things will be close to the way they were before the last round up's opening scene. derpy will continue to be as awesome as she ever was. There is nothing hasbro can do that will change the way people feel about derpy over the internet so you will never see a decline in derp content. if they never put in the speaking scene people would not be having such a hard time accepting the derpy changes in the show. so just pretend like it never even happend. Derpy hooves has left too big of an impact on bronies, trolls, and average joes to ever be forgotten.
Remind me to reread this and give some comments to make it more readable. It is a worthy fic to have around, but I don't have the energy to do my normal editing tonight. A worthy argument deserves worthy formatting, spelling, etc to go with it.
One thing I remember is you have number characters (such as 2) in it, but you generally should only use numerals for larger numbers, such as 10,343 or such-like. For smaller numbers, use: two or sixteen, or a hundred. Not sure where they dividing line is, but I do know that you have "2 years" in the last scene at the bar.

261559 I wanted to get the message out... also, one of my friends was really upset about the entire situation, so for me, it was more important that I get it out there and have him and others read it and understand my message than to proofread and try to make the story "perfect"... the story wasn't really meant to become so big and successful by any means.
