Goodbye Ponyville, Hello Canterlot!
It had been a week since that fateful day, a baker had spent an entire day with a princess and they fell in love. The romance was deemed impossible unless the baker was willing to go through a trial of courage and physical prowess. The ruler, of the nation known as Equestria, had challenged the baker to join her royal guard and if she passed the tests needed she could be with the princess that the baker desired. The royal court, and all of Canterlot, wasn't prepared for the valiance and craziness of the pink party pony.
Pinkie Pie was excited about the prospect of being officially made into a knight. With the prestige of being a knight people would have to always show her respect. She was always the fun mare of the group and loved to party hard even when nopony else did. Her reputation wasn't as a noble hero, or skilled swords-pony, but she was going to try her hardest to become greater.
Pinkie Pie wanted the job more than anything she had ever desired. It wasn't the honor of being a part of the Equestrian army or being a protector to a princess that Pinkie wanted, it was the ability to be with the princess of her dreams. Some ponies think they are rushing into the relationship and worry that Pinkie Pie would end up being made a fool of just for Twilight's sake.
Twilight had silenced the opposition with her genuine affection and care of the baker. She had been in a state of bliss whenever they had hung out, and even if it was a short time, they had figured out their chemistry is strong. Pinkie Pie's crazy and random actions were the counter to Twilight's calm and logical thinking. Together they were one soul waiting to be free of social constrictions and misguided worries.
The most recent issue, besides their rushed relationship, was the fact that in order for Pinkie Pie to start her journey of transcending her destiny to become a royal guard, she had to leave Ponyville and live in Canterlot to attend lessons and begin her trials. Most of the ponies in Ponyville were adamant about not letting Pinkie Pie go since she was their source joy and good fun when the days were bleak. With her ability to make anypony smile and the lack of activities to do in the small town, the news of her leaving caused the usually calm ponies to panic.
Eventually the ponies of Ponyville had calm themselves and left the couple alone. It was hard for most ponies to have to accept the fact that the fun loving baker was going to be absent in their lives for an undetermined period of time. They weren't given a set date for her return; however, she promised that once she qualified for the royal guards and got her assignment to Twilight, they would return and stay in Ponyville.
____________________________________________________________
The day for them to leave Ponyville had arrived, Twilight was on the task of making sure everything was in order. "Spike, have you double checked the check list to check if we have everything?" She calmly inquired.
Spike sighed and wished he didn't have to go with them, "yes Twilight I have made sure to double check the check list and make sure the proper luggage was filled with the proper items, now can we hurry up and go to the goodbye party I want to see Rarity before I go... It's going to break her heart when she finds out I won't be here for a month."
Twilight held in a giggle, she had been informed of Rarity's recent relationship with Applejack officially by them one night and didn't mention it to Spike on account he wouldn't be able to handle the news with his crush still as huge as it was. "Sure let's go to the goodbye party that, for some reason, Pinkie thought would be a smart idea to plan for the morning before we head to Canterlot... why she does the things she do? I will never understand, but... that is what I love about her." Twilight's mood lifted at that moment thinking about her time with her marefriend. They had a weird start to their relationship and yet it was the perfect way to start it at the same time.
____________________________________________________________
Pinkie Pie was having a blast at her goodbye party. She was jumping around and dancing like crazy, her erratic movements were even more zany than expected. She was happier than she has ever been, and not because she was leaving her friends and the cakes behind, because she was finally going to start a new chapter in her life.
Most of the ponies at the party were being supportive of Pinkie's new endeavor and were congratulating her for the happy relationship. Some ponies were still skeptical about the whole thing and needed reassurance.
"So Pinkie Pie, are you really serious about becoming a royal guard just to be with Twilight?" Rainbow Dash hastily asked.
"Yes I am sure Dashie!" Pinkie Pie excitedly replied.
Rainbow Dash was going to question her further about the subject but Fluttershy tapped her on the shoulder. "Hey Dashie, let's dance." Fluttershy softly requested. Rainbow Dash wasn't happy about being interrupted, she hid her dismay and went off to the dance floor.
Pinkie Pie saw the two pegasi go off to the dance floor together and smiled, "Stole my word, and thankfully stole my mare...if not for that I would be stuck chasing a dream that I could never attain. I think I’m better off not having to run forever to never get anywhere. I have a mare, who wants me for me, and that is all I need."
She was glad the events of the past turned out the way they did, especially since she was in a meaningful relationship with somepony like Twilight. She watched the two lovebirds dance for a bit and then sauntered off to the crowd in search of her marefriend wanting some much needed affection.
____________________________________________________________
Twilight had arrived at the party, ready to let loose and just have fun. She was already prepared to go to Canterlot and needed to unwind if she was going to show support for her marefriend. It was hard getting into a party mood when she had to make sure they didn't miss a train.
She scanned the crowd for the usually cheery pink pony and saw her making her way through it. When they got close enough they embraced passionately before they sensually kissed each other getting lost in their own world. "I missed you Pinkie," Twilight softly admitted.
"Aww shucks babe, I missed you even more than the tastiest cupcake." Pinkie enthusiastically replied.
They broke their embrace and began dancing on the dance floor enjoying themselves. The world could end while they danced and they wouldn't care, they were lost in their own worlds. They kept their dance going until the music faded and they kissed softly ignoring the eyes watching them.
Scootaloo ruined the moment with a "Ewww," she wasn't expecting to see a love fest at a goodbye party. She expected sappy goodbyes but not make outs.
The party goers started laughing at the filly's reaction and the party went back into the swing of things. Lot's of ponies went up to the couple wishing them well on their new journey and saying their goodbyes. It was slowly causing the ponies to leave one by one until the small circle of friends were left.
"Well sugarcubes, I jus' hope ya take good care of each other. I'll be taking a trip ta Canterlot ta visit ya but after ya get settled in real good." Applejack joyfully said. She was with a cider in one hoof and Rarity wrapped around her other.
Rarity nuzzled Applejack's hoof earning a confused stare from Spike. "Oh yes, I will be visiting too and will most likely go with Applejack to keep her company." Rarity nonchalantly added.
Rainbow Dash wanted to say something about how concerned she was about the whole ordeal, she was on the fence about speaking out. "Yeah me and Shy will definitely visit you girls but just... be careful out there Pinkie." She hesitantly stated.
Fluttershy was going to question Rainbow Dash about her attitude later but for the moment she let it go. "Yes we will visit you and Pinkie can tell us how it's like being a guard." She cheerfully said.
"Well I still don't know why I am going, I mean I could stay here with Rarity, isn't that right?" Spike grumpily asked. He barely had time to talk to Rarity at the party since Applejack was all over her. He didn't want to go to Canterlot because it was boring, and he wasn't needed there for Pinkie's training.
"Spike!" Twilight yelled, "How can I go to Canterlot without my number one assistant?" She angrily asked.
Spike just grumbled and folded his clawed hands across his chest while wishing Rarity would have spoken up and wasn't being affectionate with Applejack. "Fine..."
Pinkie Pie just watched the commotion and chuckled "I am going to miss you all soooo much, I am just glad I had an amazing goodbye party before we left. I just want you all to know I’m going to be fine, and I will never change, I will still be Pinkie, I will just be a more tougher Pinkie." She cheerfully said while bouncing around Twilight.
Twilight smiled seeing how excited Pinkie Pie was, it made her feel more secure about the decision. "Alright well we have a train to catch soon and I don't want to be late, so we will be leaving now." Twilight hurriedly said.
The group said their farewells and left in pairs, Spike was confused as to why Applejack and Rarity were so chummy since before their recent disappearance they were usually at odds. "I think it's just me but did Applejack and Rarity seem... close?" He forlornly asked.
____________________________________________________________
The train ride to Canterlot was enjoyed in silence. Pinkie Pie had snuggled up to Twilight, who was enjoying their intimacy, and rested up for her possibly grueling first day in Canterlot. The two soundly napped as the serene landscape passed by them. Spike himself was able to get rest on the train ride, forgetting about his inquiry and relaxing in the peacefulness of it all.
When the train stopped the sleeping passengers all woke and exited the train with their luggage in tow. Spike packed light, he barely owned anything, which meant his luggage wasn't heavy nor taking too much space. He wasn't one for collecting trinkets or doodads, and so his limited supply of items made it easier for him to pack up and move along.
Pinkie Pie packed somewhat accordingly. She had brought some essentials and proper supplies but also brought her party cannon and other various knickknacks. She wasn't sure what she would need so she just guessed and hoped it was the right amount of luggage for her extended stay in Canterlot.
Twilight nearly packed the entire library. She was really unsure of what would be appropriate to bring for her stay since she didn't know where she would be staying and if the length of stay was going to be as estimated. She was on edge about the entire list of possibilities. Her luggage was very heavy and Pinkie offered to share task of moving it around town.
They got a wagon that could support all the weight of the combined luggage and pulled it all the way to Canterlot Castle. The sight of a princess pulling a wagon made some of the citizens of Canterlot gasp and scoff. It was uncommon to see royalty pulling their own weight when it came to menial labor.
Pinkie Pie responded to them with a gentle smile and Twilight decided to pull a Pinkie and smile as well. The two mares weren't going to let anything or anypony bother them for doing things together. They made their way to the castle and dropped the fake smiles and just laughed at each other.
____________________________________________________________
Celestia was eagerly awaiting the arrival of her student and the baker. She had been on edge the entire morning, her mind weaving through the possible outcomes of the union of the two subjects. She had felt a bit guilty about putting a circumstance on her acceptance of their relationship but had order to maintain.
When she saw the two ponies in question, plus the baby dragon, enter the castle she smiled brightly. "Twilight Sparkle, my dearest student and friend, I have been waiting for you and Pinkie to arrive." She politely greeted.
Twilight was happy to see Celestia again and politely responded with, "I have been excited to come here as well Celestia, Pinkie and I are ready for anything."
Pinkie Pie had initially bowed since she was still in the presence of royalty that she wasn't banging. "So when do I start? Do I begin now? Oh wait, do I get to sleep in Twilight's room or is there a barracks? Oh please tell me." Pinkie Pie hurriedly blurted out.
Celestia chuckled at Pinkie Pie's demeanor, "My little pony please calm down. I will let you know everything that you wish to learn about your future here at the castle, for now though I shall let you know that yes you and Twilight will be sharing a room." She was going to explain why but saw how overjoyed the ponies were.
"Alright!" Pinkie Pie excitedly cheered. She was so happy she brought out her party cannon and launched streamers and confetti inside the throne room.
Twilight blushed and avoided Celestia's gaze, she was happy about being roomed with her marefriend but afraid of being heard by anypony during their passionate love making sessions.
Spike was not amused at the fact he could possibly be sharing a room with two passionate ponies. He didn't mind their relationship one bit, it was just he didn't enjoy watching them get intimate and having to evade a possible voyeur scenario. "Celestia where will I be staying?"
And so it begins! Nice art for this by the way.

3214946 Yeah found it and messaged the guy who did it, He allowed usage already but I asked him anyways just in case he changed his mind. This pic works well with this story.
There is absolutely nothing I dislike about this idea!
3214952
Yeah, I really like this concept.
3215033 I'm flattered
3215246 Oh yeah she will bad ass later on... early on she will be the bane of the guard trainer pony dude thingamajig... XD
It begins again..... 'Braces for hilarity impact'

3215385 Fixed thanks... and glad you like it :)
3215363 Oh just wait till Pinkie meets the guard trainer stallion dude. He will be driven to the edge by her antics XD
I probably should have commented this on the first story, but, since you've made a sequel, I'll just do it here.
When I was reading the prequel, it struck me as a little odd that Pinkie Pie absolutely could not court Twilight without being nobility or a member of the Royal Guard. Doesn't that seem a little off? It's a bit flipped from what we would expect the problem to be: the same-sex romantic relationship. Celestia has no problem with that aspect of their bond, but refuses to allow the courting unless Pinkie becomes a Guard? So on the one hand, society is progressive enough that nobody bats an eyelash at two mares being in love, but on the other hand, they're so archaic that royals cannot be wed unless their love is of nobility? It broke the immersion for me and I had to give that some thought.
It just struck me as a little inconsistent. Don't get me wrong, I loved the first story and I'm going to read this one as well, but I just figured I'd give my thoughts on that point.
Have a great day!
3215951 Well I figured that gender is no issue since the gender ratio is skewed, and as for the traditions I feel that if anyone was fit to marry royalty it would be someone qualified to protect them. Shining Armor and Cadence had lead me to believe that to be true and the implied Flash Sentry (who I despise) and Twilight thingy.
I don't have any other princess or royal couples to base it off since there are few royalties that are married.
Had Twilight never ascended the whole plot would never exist. She became royalty and as such is bound by certain edicts. The show keeps a Camelot feel to it (Canterlot lol) and with it the customs of princesses ( which are archaic in nature) and their marriage practices must be in place.
If Shining Armor was just some pissant I am sure he wouldn't have married Cadence.
I appreciate your feedback nonetheless and understand your point. Keep reading on and commenting.
3216020
That's a fair argument. Like you said, we really don't have much to work with as far as marriage in Equestria, much less with princess marriage. If there were only one thing I disagree on, it's that the princesses would need protecting from a suitor. Twilight has proven time and again that she can take care of herself and her friends, so that could offset the whole protector thing. Even Cadence has powerful protection magic, though that is limited as we saw in the S3 premiere. Regardless, it's your story, keep it going any way you like!

3216048 I love the pinkie in the stache made my night. As to the protection, even powerful alicorns needs protecting. Still while it may be a weak point you have to admit even powerful deities like Celestia has royal guards and with what she is always being pwned by makes them feel pointless. It's more for show and tradition that she even brings them along. I would like to think that her guards are trained in combat (Pinkie will be in this fic later on ;p)
Shaping up to be another great one, diablo! Thanks for sharing this with us :)
Remember that Royalty can easily have strange rules in regards to marriage even if the society does not in general and they don't always make sense. In Britain a royal had to abdicate his thrown to marry his future wife. This was not because she was a commoner and an American (though she was) but she was a divorcee. The problem was due to that which is even more ironic considering the church of England was founded due to a British King wanting to be able to divorce in the first place.
If homosexual relationships are "normal" in this universe then that being a limiting factor would not be likely but the concept of needing royal or ranks of nobility was a common practice due to it keeping the power in their hands and the possibility of keeping or increasing power. In this case it also is a concept of protection and noble bearing. While unusual in todays society (well at least in places similar to the US) something of this sort would likely be fairly common practice in a society like Equestria which is mostly seen as a non-modern society (that randomly slips into modern things when it makes sense story wise to do so).
Rarity has betrayed Spike's trust rather than helping him come to terms with the fact that she doesn't feel the same way, yet Twilight and Pinkie just laugh about it. Also couldn't help but notice that everyone says goodbye to the new ship, but Spike gets nothing. Some friends. What is he, the ethnic servant who's not important enough to acknowledge?
3217445 Excuse me but isn't Spike's emotional maturity at such a dangerous level that the slightest hint of sadness drives him to deep depression or to seek out something dangerous to find himself?
Twice in canon has something set him off where he ended up in dangerous situations because he wasn't "appreciated"
Dragon Quest, and the episode where Owlicious is at.
Also when they said bye to them it was implied they were also saying bye to Spike, not always he get addressed when people talk to Twilight in front of him. There have been episodes where people completely ignore Spike but when saying bye to Twilight it's also implied they are saying bye to him to. Like lesson zero when Mrs. Cake completely ignores spike and says goodbye only to twilight but instead of saying only goodbye to her she just says "Okay take care now."
Plus I rather save the moment for when Spike finds out about the Rarity Applejack thing for later in the story if it happens. Because honestly it's not really detrimental to the story that he doesn't know now.
Plus you forget who Rarity is, she is the queen of not giving a buck. If you don't believe me watch the show she, infront of Spike, was singing about the prince in the gala episode. Anyways that's enough defending my actions from yet again another Spike fanboy who is upset that I don't make Spike "important"
3217236 Well I never said homosexual pairings are normal enough, I mean it was just that to Celestia it wasn't the core issue with their relationship. While it's widely accepted in Equestria that love is love, there are some neigh sayers in the world... that will be coming up in later chapters.
Yeah royalty is weird with their traditions and custom. I mean look at Luna who spoke kind of derpy until she got lessons in not speaking like NERRRRD! (50 points to anyone who gets the reference).
Oh yeah speaking of royalty and guards... they aren't tagged because of the 5 tag limit but Shining Armor and Cadence will be in this fic.
ahh yes, so it begins.
awesome.
3218861 Well the next chapter is being written as we speak just need to find a right way to end this chapter and edit and revise it to make it neat and pristine for viewing pleasure.
Sorry for the delay in Chapter Release I fail at self editing so I am working hard editing until it looks like quality writing... bear with me it shall be either released tonight or tomorrow afternoon .
I want to start this with a compliment. The previous fic had a lot of good character development, and was all in all a highly enjoyable fic. You've carried over that well. I like the character interactions and to a bit how're your doing Pinkie Pie. She's not as much insane as she is both a Cloudcuckoolander, and The Cuckoolander Was Right, mixed with a healthy dose of Poor Communication Kills. But you do her seemingly randomness well without Flanderizing her which is always a plus when writing Pinkie Pie. She seems random, but she's almost always right and has a deep, insightful mind that alot of ponies and people ignore because Pinkie Pie being Pinkie Pie.
Actually the only thing that came across as OOC was Fluttershy's possessiveness. I see her as the bearer of Kindness and an all around good pony would know that Pinkie Pie is Pinkie Pie. And as such wouldn't be as she was portrayed. If anything she'd be happy with Rainbow Dash keeping in touch with her friends so that her (RD's) friends wouldn't feel hurt or as if RD didn't care about them anymore. Yes if she thought that RD was flirting or trying to cheat on her I can see her making that hurt known, but possessiveness just doesn't seem like an IC characteristic.
That being said. I want to know how you address / think of Pinkie Pie and the Mane 6 being minor nobility / knighted after saving Equestria from Discord? Technically she's already a knight / noble of sorts. Is this going to be touched upon? Also about Spike ... I'm not going to go to abuse since I don't see it as such. But Twi's treatment of him is OCC. In Canon, Dragon's are sapient, powerful beings. Technically Spike is a citizen of Equestrian and speaking creatures aren't pets in that world. Is there any reason you write him as a pet and with disdain? I mean when he comes up it almost sounds like you have a strong, near visceral dislike of the character.
Twilight does overwork him, and he does enjoy it. But she has always treated him as a mix of little brother, legal gaurdian, and boss. As well as co-dependant on him taking care of her since she lacks the skills to do so herself with how easily she looses herself in her research / studies. If it wasn't for him taking care of her she'd have starved half to death by now. So the spoken dialogs of both fics where he's not called her assistant but a pet, and her anger / borderline contempt of him feel disonant with Twilight Sparkle in the show as well as her overall personality. Especially when dealing with others.
Neglect, Pushing numerous responisibilities, forgetting he exists when she's in the middle of something. I can get that. Hell even RD or another pony pwning him when he crosses a line I can get that as well to a degree. But not how he's been portrayed so far.
Twilight, other than when interacting with her son / entity she brought to life (hatched) /what have you. Has been wonderfully done, I love her interactions with Pinkie Pie, as well as Celestia. And this story has a lot of good going for it. I eagerly await to see what happens next and I love this fic. Thank you for writing it. Also your self editing is good so far.
3225643 First of all Whoa! I appreciate the length in which you presented your argument.
I will not lie I didn't originally have a disdain for Spike until a bunch of spike fanboys kept pestering me for not making him important or loved... honestly I never saw Spike as important in the series and never have I thought while watching an episode.. "Hmm needs more Spike."
You have to understand I am an older fan of the show not Gramps old but I have seen enough cartoon to spot the generic comic relief character. I have seen so many shows try to make the generic comic relief character seem better. I can't stand by that. I actually have plans for Spike in this fic and Twilight worries about him next chapter. This first chapter had no Spike love from Twilight because she was too busy to show anypony love. Next chapter which is already written and ready to be posted (with a few more touches here and there) will show that I don't hate Spike as people believe.
I honestly didn't make Fluttershy seem possessive she was just wanting to dance. Though RD and Fluttershy's marriage isn't perfect and that will be something brought up when RD talks to Pinkie later on (Spoiler alert) anyways...
I just want you to know I am glad you think my self editing is fine so far because I did work hard on this chapter and the next one as well.
3225687
You are welcome. Honestly I never saw any mlp series other than the fim generation. I can't wait to see what happens in the next chapter when I wake up *last post of the evening*. And the time and dedication to improving yourself shows .
3225725 Oh you flatterer you...
As for the other mentioned about the saving the world stuff. That will be addressed I am glad you brought that up because I do have plans for that and it will be handled.
3225735
Yay! Because I remember them being knighted and it brought up on their Tropes page. Also some fics call them this one C word, or sometimes a Barroness.
I can't wait to see how it's handled in this fic. I mean I can see their type of Knighthood, was an honorary title for saving the world from Discord, as well as the other times they were national heroes for Equestria. I'll be keeping an eye out for the next chapter.
...The synopsis at the beginning of the chapter seems more than a bit hashed to me.
Also:
Why is there a space on both sides of the last comma?
While every word seems spelled correctly, the aforementioned hashing of the early points of the story seem to abandon Grammar niceties in favor of being excessively blunt, at the very least the jarring transitions from one sentence to another, or between one comma and the end of the sentence, ruin the immersion for me.
Edit: Yep, Grammar issues, painful. "More tougher Pinkie.", the random use of contractions, on one hoof you have "We will" and the other, you have "It's".
Edit, again: When Rainbow Dash said "Me and Fluttershy", I chalked it up to RD being illiterate, but when Twilight said "Me and Pinkie"? I blew a fuse, Twilight is a genius, and knows that the correct phrasing is "Pinkie and I".
And another edit: Where did Spike even learn words like that?
Headache.
Looks like a really cool fic but you write Twilight terribly. Honestly she yells at Spike for being unhappy about going to a city he dislikes ad is ostensibly unneeded? Very OOC. Sorry but a thumbs down. Really disappointed too as it's a very original idea.
This is going well....
I enjoyed this, but the synopsis needs work - reveals too much about some things but not enough about others.
But still, excellent work!
I'm having problems with your version of Pinkie. It doesn't seem very random. After all, what does Dash often tell her: "Pinkie, you are so random"
