In her effort to sculpt the flawless pony, Rarity's reeducation-turned-torture goes too far. But does the mare that she has created have a name beyond lipstick, ribbon and recital? Heads will turn, gossip will fly, and the social heart of Canterlot will skip a beat. There's a new lady in town and her name is . . .

Special thanks to Wellspring for editing this. I got the idea for this story from reading his, All About Rarity, so it's something of a spiritual companion to Wellspring's fic. I highly recommend you read it.

All constructive criticism is welcome.

Rarity's been watching A Clockwork Orange a few times too many, I think. :pinkiegasp:

away by petty hunger and orderves.

There is a certain irony to be found in the fact that a story in which Applejack is being given the Clockwork-Orange treatment to try to make her say her words properly, has "hors d'oeuvres" misspelled in it. :rainbowlaugh: (It's French, therefore spelled weirdly. :raritywink: :facehoof: )

So... will Pinkie and "the Device" be making an appearance in later chapters?

Applejack twitched her nose. “. . . What? That ain’t English.”

Course not, Applejack! It didn't originate in England, it originated in Equestria! So it's Equestrian!
AKA This need to be fixed

On another note, this is hilarious! Can't wait to see what happens next.

I don't suppose you read "Ah Ain't Got No Acksent"? :ajsmug:

'Hors d'oeuvres.' Goddammit :twilightangry2:

I always miss something. Looking over it, I can see a few other grammar mistakes such as dropped quotes and question marks. It's probably a result of the funky GDoc import feature; I'll get around to sniping those little mistakes sooner or later.

I'm not sure what A Clockwork Orange is. Is that a show? Never mind the fact the Google search bar is ten pixels from my cursor! Also, there will only be one more chapter. Originally, this was a one shot, but Wellspring suggested I expand it a bit and I ended up agreeing with him.

I actually try to limit as much as possible references to hooves, wings, 'Equestria,' and the word pony in an effort to make you forget that we're talking about horses. Don't know about you, but those words break the immersion for me. And thank you for liking it! I'm pleasantly surprised at this lukewarm reception. I swear, every time I submit something to this website, the sweat-work begins:

No I haven't. I forgot to mention this in the first comment, but My Fair Lady was the driving force, along with All About Rarity, behind the idea for this fic. A lot of scenes are homages to Professor Higgins and Elisa.

3106355 My brain has a seizure and doesn't know what to do when it sees something like that. On on hand, I'd like to be able to forget that it's a different world and be able to read it normally. I (to my memory, not a reliable source) don't think I've ever used the words "everypony", "nopony", etc in my main story because of this. On the other, it's technically incorrect, so my brain screams at me to get it fixed.

...And then it freaks the hell out.

I'm not sure what A Clockwork Orange is. Is that a show?

*sigh* You kids these days. No appreciation of the classics. :facehoof:

The scene in which Alex (played by a young Malcolm McDowell) is forced to undergo an experimental aversion therapy is rather infamous.

That's just my personal preference. There is nothing wrong with using 'everypony,' I just find it very distracting (and somewhat cheesy :pinkiehappy:). I think I've made references to wingboners a couple of times, but that was out of peer pressure, I swear!

Are you from the UK? I've honestly never heard of that movie. I like to think that I have basic awareness of pop culture, but then someone comes along and slaps my face with a Monty Python reference and all I can do is stare and drool. From what I can tell from the Wiki page, its a pretty gruesome movie. I think its a little funny that you see a connection between the two because, as I said, I drew a lot of inspiration for this from My Fair Lady, which is about as G as you can get.

From the UK? Hardly. It's probably more of a generational thing; I grew up in the 1970s (though I was still in single digits, age-wise, when the film was first released, so I didn't see it then), so I'm probably somewhat closer to that particular pop-cultural reference. And yeah, A Clockwork Orange isn't exactly what you'd call light family entertainment. :pinkiegasp: :twilightoops: It's typical of a lot of 1970s-era sci-fi movies, unfortunately -- dark, depressing visions of dystopian futures where everything sucks and we're all gonna die. (Which is why Star Wars was such a breath of fresh air when it hit the scene in 1977. "Finally, a movie where the good guys win and the future doesn't totally suck!")

Applejack being strapped down to the rocking horse and threatened with having an orange force-fed to her is what made the connection for me. It's been a while since I watched My Fair Lady, but I don't seem to remember bondage being involved in Eliza Doolittle's reeducation... :rainbowlaugh:

I am a fan of older movies like Alien and Jaws, where the special effects just weren't there and directors were forced to rely on imagination. I feel that movies now are just sequel sequel sequel. As far as My Fair Lady goes, there's no bondage per se, but Elisa is forced to do things she dislikes. A lot. The orange force-feed scene came (partly) from Elisa watching Professor Higgins nibble on tarts and praying for a bite. From there I got the idea that oranges are AJ's natural enemy, and away we went.

Really wish this story was continued, hope your doing okay
