Uh, Discord is a dracconequs (I know the spelling is f***ked, don't judge me), and Celestia is a pony.
Not to mention Discord is Chaos himself and basically a god.
I don't think it would be all that difficult for what is basically a dragon-horse and an alicon can eventually do the nasty and 9-11 months later (depends on whether you're using equine pregnancy or just BSing and using our human pregnancy terms), Spike is born or hatched.
Seems relatively simple to me, though I have a feeling that very kinky and strange roleplay was involved. (That's the only relatively sane way I can think of how Spike came from an egg

It's interesting to me in 2 ways:
1/ There was never a relationship between Spike and Rarity in the first place, and basically the fragile friendship was obliterated by that discovery.
2/ (Have to re-read) I think Sweetie kinda had a crush on Spike, but wasn't even thinking about the more intimate stuff until he basically kidnapped her.

hmmm.....sounds like we need to have a bit of a Sparkle update. I'm pretty sure that Twilight's ability to hatch Spike has the same type of magic needed to help Spike get his harmony back. (Just like when Celestia calmed Twilight's spontaneous magic burst, I think it will be Twilight that can help Spike with controlling his magic and emotions in the same manner).
And where in the world did it ever say that Spike was crushing on Sweetie Belle, much less having any sort of affection for her? Is is just because Sweetie Belle is a younger, smaller version of Rarity, or is it this way because Spike basically dumped Rarity after he caught her having sex with Snails' father from the previous story??
Also, we know from the previous story that Twilight knows the origins of Spike (basically his parents are Celestia and Discord, and he's a prince [
you see this, Rarity??!!! 
]). I was kinda hoping that even though they are explaining what's happening to Spike, Celestia and Discord would have went ahead with the opportunity to tell everypony else in the room about she and Discord being Spike's mommy and daddy. Guess that for the next chapter, huh
