This story is a sequel to Perfect Companions

Sequel to Trixie's Getting Back On Her Hooves and Perfect Companions

Live Reading Part 1

Part 2

Part 3

In the episode Magic Duel, Trixie returned with the Alicorn Amulet to take her revenge on Ponyville and Twilight Sparkle...but what happened in a world where they're friends? And have been for a good while?

Trixie has been living in Ponyville for a good time since the defeat of her insane sister Checker Monarch. Life is going well for the blue mare. She's the mane cast's friend, she has a pet of her own, and she even has a house...sort of.

But when the Princess and some Delegates from Saddle Arabia are set to come to Ponyville with a show, things get a bit complicated...

They said it couldn't happen, but here it is!:pinkiegasp:

Damn, it seems everypony is expecting Twilight to win effortlessly. Everypony except for Twilight, Fluttershy, Rarity, Snips, Snails, and Spike. I guess that's going to serve as Trixie's motivation for getting the Alicorn Amulet here.

Nice! I was hoping you'd get on this story when I saw that "Perfect Companions" had updated. And I was wondering how you were going to get the premise in given the setting's differences. This could... lead to some heartbreak, yeah. Good luck!

Also, it's spelled "Moebius loop". Interestingly, the reason they included that bit in the show was to make Twilight look like a common depiction of the Tarot card "The Magician". I love how they sneak in little things like that.

Looks like Trixie's demons may be resurfacing. She probably going to hear how most of Ponyville thinks Twilight is going to trounce her, which will remind her of how she was treated before meeting up with Twilight again.

To the Alicorn amulet!

Sequel! :yay:

It's just beginning but it's already very nice! Thanks for giving us another installment of a this great story! :pinkiehappy:

Glad to see more of this 'verse, I very much enjoyed the first story.

A sequel to one of my favorite fanfics ever? COUNT ME IN!:pinkiehappy:

*reads*

... Heh. Interesting twists with Dr. Hooves saying Trixie was the center of a timeline split. It gives a decent explanation for why there is an alternate universe, instead of just throwing us into it.
Also, it's nice to see more of the background ponies. Yay, Carrot Top!

I love seeing more of nice Trixie. But why do I have this uneasy feeling that this competition is going to go so wrong? I predict tested friendships, bruised egos, competitiveness, and some horrible monster being released! (Oh, wait. That last one happens every week in Ponyville.)

Nice job there Lyra, Bon Bon, and Cherry, you've made Trixie unsure of herself. Well anyway, hopefully at the end this won't damage the friendship between Trixie and the others as well as Ponyville.

So all of those idiots think it's going to be a real duel and not just an act? Yeah, the ponies of Ponyville are really dumb...

3067601 Technically, an exhibition IS a real duel, it just means there's no points involved and it's more relaxed, not that it's an ACT. Both sides are still trying to win, but it's more bragging rights than any prize.

Dan

What the hay is a "Mebius loop?"

My predictions: Trixie will over-prepare trying to beat Twi, Twi will under-prepare trying to give Trix a chance

Derpy’s watching Noi for me and I’d better get back before she empties my fridge…again.

immediately thought this

:raritystarry:It's finally here!
This flows very well from the previous entries, and I can't help but feel sorry for Trixie again. Well, the comedy tag implies things won't get too bad.
And it has squat to do with the plot progression right now, but I am quite intrigued as to how Trixie and Stage Hoof's relationship has progressed....:duck:

Ah, finally able to get to this. Anyway, excellent callbacks to Magic Duel itself at the beginning. I sense trouble, though. And perhaps the Amulet too. Not. good. :fluttershysad:

Let me think of a scenarios.

1) It's just a slice of life story where Trixie slowly learns to overcome her fear of rejection.

2) Trixie gets her hoofs on the amulet, goes crazy with fear of rejection, but is talk down by Twilight, than puts on the show.

3) During the show, Trixie goes insane, nearly hurts Twilight, and becomes a monster.

Finally an update::rainbowkiss:

Trixie still has self esteem issues

But after this chapter, don't spend another dwelling on them, do it with them trying to find a solution.

IT'S ALIVE! IT'S ALIVE!:pinkiehappy::rainbowwild::yay::trollestia::eeyup::raritystarry::raritywink:

Alternate (joke) title: Freak-Out Duel.

And Twilight, Trixie, something tells me that when this is all over, you'll realize after talking about what happened that you Could Have Avoided This Plot.

3681605 Hehe, true. Though both ponies have their reasons for not just telling the other, both of which involves Trixie's pride.

Any other tropes you see? There is a section on the trope page.

3681742 Well, after Twilight saw how crushed Trixie was at the thought of her training with Zecora getting wasted, she attempted to make it look like she had pulled a Throwing Off The Disability, only for Spike to point out afterward that she Didn't Think This Through.

And this was Twilight's reaction in a nutshell.

It's interesting to see what elements of the original episode show up at times. Trixie had better not complain about rock farms when Pinkie is within earshot, though. There's also a lot of "Green Isn't Your Color" going on. Hopefully it won't be a complete rehash of that particular lesson.

The Zecora bit was fun too. I like the interpretation that Trixie makes up for her weaker power level by developing better control and a wider skill base.

Nice unexpected Christmas gift, this.
Poor Trixie... I really do look forward to this being done one way or the other for her sake.
And by the bye Twi, as Mooncalf noted, there's at least one friendship report which touches on the issue here.:facehoof:

Twilight just can't win, can she?

BTW, Merry Christmas! Wasn't expecting this update.

See, girls. This is what you get for lying to each other. Kinda reminds of me of Green is not your Color.

Instead of a Magic Duel, how about a Magic Show ft. Twilight and Trixie work together instead of facing each other?

“Because her pride won’t let her accept me taking it easy on her!” exclaimed the unicorn, placing another friendship letter into the pile.
“…so I’m going to be humiliated! I’ll have to run out of town in shame and become a hobo again!”

Or you could, you know, TALK TO EACH OTHER!

Argh, that's so those two that it hurts. Oh, well. Best to sit back and watch the fireworks. *stands up* I need popcorn.:pinkiehappy:

3704089 So many problems solved... and this isn't the show, so it IS an option, GodzillaWolf! Hint, hint hint!

Anyway, great chapter. Great to see it back. I do hope they talk it out. Miscommunication can be so... cliched and trite nowadays, to be honest.

Time to have an honest talk, girls.

“What’s the point of being the brash one if I can’t (do)<--delete this put it to good use?”

Sorry I missed that.

Well, that was really sweet.
A very good description of the duel. Liked the spells.
And really liked the conclusion. Well done! :pinkiehappy:

How I saw the end of the Duel.

:trixieshiftright: Come on Twilight, Go. The B:applecry:k. To SLEEP

Typo alert!

“They’re here…they’re here and they’re going to watch me fail…I’m is going to be a laughingstock again!”

Delete the bold word, please.

Your both worried about hurting each others‘ feelings, now just talk about it!”

Should be you're, not your.

This was a nice chapter. I especially liked how at the end, Twilight made it so that the Great and Powerful Trixie could well and truly be laid to rest for good.

But what's all this about mutant cockatrices and Spike wielding a trident while riding on Princess Celestia?:rainbowhuh:

Let's call it a draw.

Trixie had this won, and then she had to mention princess Celestia.:rainbowlaugh:

Nice conflict resolution, and an absolutely spectacular friendly duel. Bravo. I also enjoyed the callbacks to the comic adventures, and nice touch adding Trixie into the cockatrice fight. It brings up the question: how would a friendly Trixie living in Ponyville affect the canon episodes?

I do believe, however, that you're struggling with a crippling ellipsis addiction. They sound very dramatic, but you've really overused it here. Also, there should be a space after the ellipsis if the sentence continues.

But what's all this about mutant cockatrices and Spike wielding a trident while riding on Princess Celestia?

Im pretty sure its a reference to the pony comics, the fourth has Spike riding Celestia and fighting cockatrices.

Good ending on the duel, I will consider it a draw

Ok, here's a very serious question.
Where is the super-like button?

And...its over. God I love this story

Rainbow nodded. “Exactly! And I love a good competition! Even if I’m the fastest pegasus alive. It’d be BORNING if that meant the Best Young Fliers Competition was a cake walk!”

"Borning"? Not a word I'm familiar with lol.

Great duel, girls.

I really liked the "sisters" development.

3777472 I wasn't aware of any pony comics, are they canon?

I dont think that they're canon. But they are a good fun read.

All right! This was shorter than I expected, but hey, I'm glad we didn't have to go into Alicorn Amulet Angst.
For just a moment, I thought after Twilight and Trixie came clean with each other that you would just end at the beginning of the duel, but you really delivered!:pinkiehappy:

Great ending to this. Admittedly I thought it'd be another chapter or two, but this is good too. Awesome duel and way to end it.

That's... about how I thought it would go - after all, both Twilight and Trixie are too asocial to think off talking to each other.

Oh, and cool duel.:pinkiehappy:

CCC

Typo note: You've got 'Usra' instead of 'Ursa' twice in the first chapter alone.

Good start to the story. It does leave Trixie in a tough position; if she loses, everyone will say she had no chance, and if she wins, everyone will say that Twilight threw the match...
