The Illuminator

After rescuing the Ancient Terrasquid, which they also found out that the Terrasquid is a girl. The Skylanders had to find the Ancient Frosthound before Kaos does. After rescuing an artifact from the Frost Elves Outdoor Museum, as well as the Frost Elves that were guarding it. They discovered the location of the Frosthound, it resides in the Frostfest Mountains, but after finding out that the Frostfest Mountains is surrounded by blizzards which would completely obscure their view, the Frost Elf, Avril recommended using a powerful artifact that the Frost Elves hold dearly. It was called, 'The Illuminator, but after she said its name, Whirlwind appeared in a flash of light. Whirlwind was hailed as a hero to the Frost Elves after preventing an eternal darkness on their land for giving them the Illuminator. Avril explained that weeks ago, the Illuminator was generating its powers to somewhere beyond the Cloudbreak Islands. Whirlwind said,

"That's when I requested its powers to help my friends fight the Golem of the Deep."

Avril stood aback, "The Golem.....lives?" Whirlwind realized that even the Frost Elves knew the tales of the embodiment of destruction summoned by Malefor himself. The Unicorn/Dragon Hybrid replied,

"Not anymore, we used the Illuminator to blind it temporarily while the others used the opportunity to attack it head on. It is dead once again."

Avril took a breath of relief, "That was good, I heard Malefor is back, but if he resurrected that thing, it would be a problem. But there is no worry since its dead."

Whirlwind looked at the artifact, "Lets head back to Woodburrow, and then we'll head for the Winter Keep."

As they returned to Woodburrow, it was a shock for Whirlwind to know that her enchanted crystal would now be used to guide them through the Frostfest Mountains to the Frosthound. Although she gave the Frost Elves the Illuminator, she would not mind if they use the Illuminator to light their way through the Frostfest Mountains. As she explored through Woodburrow, she had a flashback about all the things she has done, even rescuing the Dragon Eggs and Unicorn Foals. All her good deeds she has done led her to becoming a Skylander. Now she has to get the Illuminator to guide them through the Frostfest Mountains, she knows that they will return it after rescuing the Frosthound. But when she began to have a flashback about her Dragonfly companion, Cloudy, she also realized that she has the EQG version of her cousin, Rainbow Dash waiting to be sent in. She looked up into the sky and yelled,

"Princesses, send in EQG Rainbow Dash!" EQG Rainbow Dash appeared in a flash of light as she said,

"So we are going after the Illuminator?"

Whirlwind nodded, "Its our only chance to get through the Frostfest Mountains safely."

EQG Rainbow Dash said, "Well, lets head for Sharpfin's ship and get the Illuminator."

After they talked to Sharpfin, they were ready to go to the Arctic keep to get the Illuminator.

As they journeyed to the Winter Keep, they heard Flynn complaining about the cold air that is freezing him. But to Whirlwind, she was there before and she was basically used to the cold chill. As for her EQG partner, She managed to use a Rainbow Fire that she used when she and Sgt. Byrd faced the Sorceress' monster during her mission years ago. Her Rainbow Fire Ability kept her partner warm. It wasn't until they reach the Winter Keep to find it under attack by Kaos' Blizzard Bowlers. The airships were firing snowballs at the Frost Elves of the Winter Keep, EQG Rainbow Dash said to Whirlwind,

"Now that's one heck of a snowball fight."

Whirlwind spotted the statue of a Unicorn/Dragon Hybrid with a Crystal Horn on it surrounded by a Rainbow energy,

"There it is."

EQG Rainbow Dash noticed thinking that the statue was the thing that they were looking for, "That's the Illuminator?" Whirlwind pointed to the Crystal Horn on the statue,

"Wait, sorry, my mistake. Its the Crystal Horn that is the Illuminator."

Whirlwind saw Avril jump from the airship, so Whirlwind motioned to EQG Rainbow Dash that its time to jump ship. As they landed, they were met by Duff, a friend of Avril, until Flynn dropped down and slipped on the ice. The pilot mentioned that they should salt down that general area because it was a safety hazard. Duff turned to Whirlwind,

"Whirlwind, Its glad to see you again. Those Blizzard Bowlers have made this one huge snowball fight. Don't worry about the Illuminator, its alright, you gave it to us to break the eternal night curse and give us courage."

Whirlwind replied, "We have to take out those airships before they cause anymore damage to the Winter Keep."

EQG Rainbow Dash finished, "We also have to keep them away from the Illuminator."

As the Skylander and the EQG went into battle to prevent those airships from burying the Frost Elves in snow, they were accompanied by a squad of snowmen when they reached a catapult. They would either find the snowmen near the catapults and use them as ammo for the weapons, which they agreed to. When Whirlwind and EQG Rainbow Dash transiting which allowed EQG Rainbow Dash to ride Whirlwind, the snowmen appeared and waited for the go, so the EQG used one of her Air Swords to signal one snowman to launch. It managed to destroy some of the airships that were attacking the Winter Keep. But during the battle, an Ice Geargolem froze the Illuminator, by freezing the furnace, which caused day to turn to night. Whirlwind realized,

"We got to defeat that Geargolem and re-ignite the Illuminator."

EQG Rainbow Dash nodded, "If we don't re-ignite the Illuminator, the Winter Keep will remain dark forever."

Whirlwind and EQG Rainbow Dash battled their way through the Winter Keep to the furnace. That's where they encountered the Ice Geargolem that froze the Illuminator. But with a quick and decisive skill, they managed to dispatch the Ice Geargolem. As they looked at the frozen furnace, EQG Rainbow Dash asked,

"Any ideas?" Whirlwind pulled out a red orb as she said, "Hold out your swords." EQG Rainbow Dash held out her Air Swords as the red orb merged itself with her swords. That's when the Rainbow Fire blasted from her swords. After seeing this, the two focused the Rainbow Fire on the ice that has the furnace frozen solid. They concentrated as hard as they could until Whirlwind noticed,

"Its not working. We are going to have to cross the streams!"

EQG Rainbow Dash asked, "Isn't that dangerous?!"

Whirlwind said, "Its the only way."

EQG Rainbow Dash smiled, "Best idea ever!"

Whirlwind became Horn Blast Whirlwind and began to cross her Rainbow Fire with EQG Rainbow Dash's Rainbow Fire. As the horn connected with the swords, there was an implosion in the ice that threw the duo to the ground as they disconnected. As they got up, they noticed the furnace was normal, the Illuminator re-ignited and Darkness turned to Light.

EQG Rainbow Dash commented, "WAY ABOVE 20% COOLER!!"

Horn Blast Whirlwind nodded, "It was crazy, but sometimes, I like crazy ideas." After re-igniting the Illuminator, the duo continued to fight off the remaining airships and head straight for the Whirlwind Statue to oversee the transfer. But they also found it to be surrounded by those creeps. They used their combined powers to fight off the remaining enemy forces and to make sure that the Illuminator stays safe.

After making sure that the landing zone is safe and secure, Sharpfin brought the ship in as the Frost Elves got the Illuminator off the Whirlwind Statue. Flynn asked Duff,

"So are you sure this horn would guide us through the Frostfest Mountains?"

Duff nodded and explained, "As long as it shines your way, it is possible."

The pilot had a crazy idea, he took out his communicator and placed to on the Illuminator, despite Duff warning him not to. Whirlwind blocked both her eyes and EQG Rainbow Dash's eyes with her wings as the Crystal Horn exploded in a blinding light. Flynn asked,

"So is this blinding light, you know permanent?"

Sharpfin, Whirlwind and EQG Rainbow Dash yelled, "FLYNN!!!!!!"

Author's Note:

So, Whirlwind and EQG Rainbow Dash got the Illuminator and used it to get through the Frostfest Mountains. The next chapter will have the Skylanders saving the Ancient Tree Spirit.
