I like it. One of the main reasons I like stories with humans is the interactions between the different races. This story seems like it's all about that.

Very interesting, a HiE fic that doesn't have to deal with war, bronies, Ponies enslaving humans, humans enslaving ponies, zombies or all the other crap that pops up when dealing with humans. It is very refreshing to read a story that the ponies and humans (who I am wondering how they even got there) living peacefully. Personally I am not much fan of the romance, kind of feel that it was too quick, but what the hell you got good dynamics going on.
Also... I am waiting for that one chapter when he is called to Canterlot to help shoe the Princess.

Good point, really don't know exactly what the boot things they wear are, are they pure ornamentation or are they for protection like a hoof boot. Still might be an interesting thing to explore, granted just having a farrier (thus horseshoes) in a story, human or otherwise, is very uncommon.
I'm assuming that humans have been working around ponies for quite a while and the sheer shock of first contact has eased away.
