3126609 I am
Holy CRap Fluttershy really did become TREE.!!! aLSO I cant wait to see how Xenith is going to react to the stone form of doom bunny.
No, Kage! You were so young, and so developed compared to your sister. You had such a...I'm sorry I can't continue with this.
I'm sorry, but I feel like Kage feels out of place in this whole thing. With a story like this, with such awesome characters that I want to see more of and feel like they are 3 dimensional, I feel like Kage is...an anomoly. He has no development, no real character beyond his merc status, and just feels bland to me. Compared to his snarky and quick mouthed sister, Kage just feels like he was onl there to give Reg a reason to continue with Little Pip and maybe some more guilt for our heroine. That's it, and I feel kind of bad because I know I am supposed to care, but I don't. Heck there is a piece of fanart showing the manes of the different FOE stories and in the main group, its just Reg who is there and not Reg and Kage. Wich is a shame because he looks like a complete badass.
Now, I will admit...I cried at the renuion scene with Velvet, it just feels like Kkat was looking down at her readers and was going, "Ok, I broke your hearts enough, here is some happy moments for you guys." I loved Calamity just leaping at Velvet and tackling her, I was half expecting him to start kissing her all over in happiness. and yes little pip, there is no doubt...
Calamity is kindness and Velvet is loyalty.
Ok, I kid, I know, its the other way around. calm down girls. Anyway, I love the big end at the chapter, as we continue down this...our last volume. (good Celestia...has it been that long? I can't imagine how the reactions to things like ch 37 and Steelhooves death was when this story first came around
(Squee!)
I know what that weeping willow actually is!
It's actually the imprisoned body of.... (gets melted to green goop by an Enclave Pegasus' magic plasma rifle)
Blue vines... blue! Get the hell away from there, pones!
Awesome

What, Hellboy?
dashie.mylittlefacewhen.com/media/f/img/mlfw8310-87xOC.gif
This the story I've ever read.
3127581
Derpy became a ghoul due to the radiation from the balefire bombs during the war. And
some ghouls can live for a reeeeaaaallllllyyy long time. In Fallout 3, there's one in Underworld who's been around since the war 200 years prior
Oh. Right.
I said many chapters ago that I felt that the Canterlot Ruins were the most deadly environment ever.
I forgot about the Everfree. The Everfree is probably worse.
The Everfree is probably much worse.
Oh.
It's titled "Towards Hope" because they go close to the Hope Solar Array.
I feel kinda dumb now.
Don't think I didn't see what you did there.
3128339 Fluttershy is a tree... Well... Can't say I saw that one coming.
SPOILERS
The Enclave have developed pretty good hellhound mind control.
It's funny. By spoiling the current chapter, I have actually made things significantly harder for myself. Because I do write these things immediately after proceeding to a new chapter. To first check ahead at what's going to happen would be cheating. So I've got to come up with something worth mentioning, that I haven't covered in a previous spoiler tag, and that is preferably nontrivial to determine based on how the last chapter ended, while also aiming to ensure that it does happen within this chapter despite having not read this story in a year and thus having very little memory of where the chapter boundaries fall. I'm pretty sure it's harder than it looks.
Eh, it's not a proper week if you don't think you're going to die at least once or twice.
The Enclave are such a sympathetic government, aren't they? Anyway:
RIP Tracker. You were too patriotic to live.
Littlepip. Hero now, libido later.
This reminds me of something. Hang on, let's see if I can find it . . .
Don't expect a Shakespeare play.
It also reminds me of that scene from Zombieland where Bill Murray gets shot. You've got to be careful who you surprise.
Translation: we're mercenary, not stupid, and we know we owe you for the things you do.
Careful of that fourth wall, Xenith. The way everypony keeps bumping up against it, you don't want to be hitting it like that, even if you can't see any damage.
Also, Littlepip, you're more of a gun mare.
Everypony deserves friends like Littlepip and Calamity, who will support and guide them.
No.
Apocalypse (n.): from the Greek ἀποκάλυψις (un-covering), a revelation of disclosure of something hidden, especially in a religious context. Who would say that revelation of hidden knowledge is not worth following? Velvet shall be a major figure in building the new Equestria, wiser for its suffering over the past two centuries.
And in the other sense, what else can follow an ending but a new beginning?
Yeah, that only fits if the stick is a stick of dynamite.
Your friends have been rubbing off on you. That's Velvet's desire to help everypony and Littlepip's audacity right there.
You've got fans. You've got momentum. The Wasteland now likes you almost as much as it hates you (which is high praise, considering it hates everypony). Sometimes things are going to go right, no matter how it disturbs you.
Get a room.
. . . I wonder when I last said that about characters who did not already have a room, which they were in?
The master of metaphors is slipping.
You're slipping, Littlepip. He figured out that you need him now that Kage is dead, and you didn't.
Well of course. There are four places in the Wasteland where the hazards are truly exceptional. Four places you simply do not go if you have any sanity. And you've already been to Fillydelphia, Splendid Valley, and Canterlot. You can't just not visit the Everfree.
Sounds like an average Tuesday, then.
Man, I wish I hadn't used up the "Fluttershy is a tree" spoiler ages ago. I wanted to put that on this chapter. But I couldn't.
Oh. Oh wow. Fluttertree. You gotta be kidding.
Look like her dream come true. She wanted to be a tree, so a tree she became.
I should say I'm surprise, but I'm not. Except for the bunny, didn't see that one coming.
Dude... the prophecy! As predicted here, in season 4! I fear what else here might happen in MLP:FiM?
I am simultaniously relived and greatly saddened that the end of this story is drawing near. What could I possibly replace a tale like this with once it's done?
Hmm. I could just... read this again. :D
3741916 Eh... I think Angel deserves the 'Discord Treatment.' After all, he was kind of just a living pain in the arse.
Lol tunnelsnakes
3792130
There's always Project Horizons, and Heroes and the like. lol
Took me a moment, but I got the reference. This story becomes so much better after playing the games.
It's been long enough that I don't remember his plan from the last time I read this, but let me just point out that it's Calamity's plan. None of his plans were good ones except maybe the one to leave the Enclave.
Literally, in some cases.
Did I mention how I admire how you make these references incredibly deep? They're rooted into the story instead of just stapled on like most would do.
4236050 I think I have a problem, I keep seeing references that aren't there. What happens when I get the obvious ones and start making others up?
Like the haunted/mine farm for example. Is it a reference to Minetown in Fallout 3 or the haunted farm in Fallout 2? (Spoiler I guess, it turns out the farm was run by underground creatures that only came out at night and appeared as ghosts to scare people away. Weirdly similar to Hellhounds... This is foreshadowing, isn't it?)
Ok, maybe that was a real one, but the "Wasteland Rangers" being the Desert Rangers is a little less likely. Or not. How about how the fallen solar panel trader house being a nod to Black Mountain? I need some sleep, I'm seeing patterns and references that aren't there...
What, those? Those aren't references, I would know if they were.
The impact send me falling back
1. Sent.
I just wonder... How did that exactly happen to Fluttershy? Angel was obvious but her? I suspect something near black magic is happening. I also think there is a hole in Calamity's plan. If plan A of converting doesn't work, it's off to plan K which is plan kill the wonderbolts to get LilPip's plan into motion.
Honestly, I don't have much to say this chapter, what can I even say?
Oh, that memory spell. The one from The Return of Harmony. Well, now that is a subtle reference right there if I ever saw one. Also, Fluttershy colored tree? Angel statue?
3742189 Agreed. Going through my second readthrough, I can say for near absolute certainty that both M. A. Larson and Dave Polsky have read Fallout:Equestria. Seriously, there are too many S4 references to this story to be a coincidence.
Huh, I guess Rainbow Dash was right. Fluttershy really is a tree.
If there is something I miss in the story, it would be The Battle of Shattered Hoof...
An aerial battle between the Talons and the Enclave.
Just goes to show that the craziest theory in the waste is likely the truest.
I read it as, "I almost shat a balloon".
So Fluttershy finally did get to be a tree
10 points for Gryffindor!
Homage's quote about heroes reminds me of one of my favorite quotes: when life knocks you down, just stand up, smile and say "you hit like a little (pardon my French(no offence))bitch."
Huh. Well, what do you know...
So fluttershy is still alive, that's nice I guess
So wait... Fluttershy is a tree? Is that good or bad?
And now im near the end or the story
-Insert endless *NO!* here.-
Ahhhhhhh heeeeeellll... the endis closing in on me... and it hurts.
Damn it, there's always a stoy like this that is just so flipping amazing, andI don't want it to end... but it has to...
Sooner or later.
AGH.
good work!~
Tunnel Snakes Rule.
Well then, good job season four.
that brimg Fluttershy back
Next chapter...
. . .Well, I guess SteelHooves got it right back then that Flutters turned into a tree in the Everfree Forest. . .
Ok, i had to stop right here for abit and comment immediately before i forget, but going by the way Littlepip reacted to Derpy telling her to bring in mines for caps, does this mean, in all of the times she's been messing around with mines, she never discovered you can disarm them EXTREMELY easily?!(Aka, touching and pressing down on the bright, blinking light on the top.) Now that i think back on it, Littlepip had always avoided or thrown mi.... Fucking Hell Littlepip, i know you say you aren't a clever pony, but COME ON! I know they're stupidly designed and make no sense at all on the disarming, but COME ON!!!
EDIT: Separate Comment for the Same Chapter:
I never really put any tactical thought into SteelHooves death until Reggie pointed this out. Yeah, tragic and stuff, but i just realized(And mmorpgers will know the full impact of what i say without the in-depth explanation provided below) Littlepip's Party didn't just lose their heavy gunner, they lost their tank. Practically the Ultimate Tank at that!
Explanation: No, this isn't a explanation on what a tank is, but the importance of one. Let's say you had one of the best medics in the world(For simplicity's sake, one on the same skill level and usefulness of Velvet), hell maybe even two. Great, they can put the regular footsoldiers back on the field. After a bit, the enemy will wisen up and then aim for instant/non-recoverable shots. You reduced the rate of fire of the enemy, but made them take more accurate shots. Then, they'll concentrate fire on the medics. Oops, a stray bullet just killed one of the medics outright. Welp, you're now doomed unless every one of your teammates can pull a clutch and simply kill ALL of the enemy in seconds. You'll take almost as much losses as the enemy, but you won.
Another scenario, instead of medics, or just one average one, you have two or three Assassins. Stealthy little buggers. They can sneak behind the enemy and if they're skilled enough, take out big structures or critical points of the enemy. Great, You win. But if even one of those stealth dudes ain't skilled enough, they'll get spotted and most likely gunned down. Now the enemy is on high alert, and looking for your assassins. Welp, might as well count them dead as they don't carry much in the armor or weapons category. You now just lost.
Now, this is the last scenario before i get to my point, so bear with me. Instead of the three great assassins, how about we take away two of 'em and put a average assassin, yes same type of reductions i did with the medic scenario, but this time you get two or three excellent, top of the class snipers. You can basically stay back and let the snipers take out important, authority figures. Great, disorganized enemy. Then, if the enemy are idiotic or poorly organized enough, take out the stragglers. You won. Most of you reading this can probably see my thought pattern by now, but i'll continue regardless. Now, what if at the beginning, a stray wind came by that was unknowingly conjured by a butterfly miles away, right as your first sniper took his first shot, and he missed their supreme ruler by mere inches. Welp, now you're fucked as their entire enemy blows the sniper to kingdom come in retaliation, and then keep on moving towards your secret base. You've read the previous scenarios, i doubt i need to explain what happens afterwards.
Now, onto the tank scenario. Second verse, same as the first, the snipers are now reduced to just one average joe sniper. And, breaking the mold here, we add two tanks. Not extremely skilled tanks, but just two of them. When the enemy is facing off with you, and they see your tanks, their first thought won't be "Ok, i see the enemy, time to get to cover and start shooting" it'll be "Holy shit! Focus fire on that fucker and if they start charging, run the fuck away!" See the difference between all of these scenarios? All the other soldier types did their jobs, took out something, then the enemy reacted to their presence. But the tank type? They lay a single eye on 'em, and they're already shitting their pants. They will focus fire in a vain attempt to kill it first. They'll completely ignore you and your footsoldier buddies. But that's only half of the tank deal. If you can take the hits, but not return them, you're just a barricade. If you can deal massive amounts of firepower, but your armor is just the same as everyone else's, you're just a heavy gunner. No, A Tank can inspire complete terror into the enemy for being unkillable, while at the same time hundreds of the enemy are dying or are severely wounded by a single shot from the tank. And the guy's using a auto-cannon that can fire at 50 rounds per minute. The tanks start moving up with the support of the rest of the team, and then you won by completely crushing the enemy's will and ability to fight.
Of course, I could be a bit biased as i am usually a tank myself. But i'm pretty sure most people can at least agree that the tank is a major part of a team.
Now, as the last part of my ramble, notice the soldier types i used. Medic, Foot,Sniper, Assassin, Tank. Now, look at Littlepip's group pre-Steelhoves death. Yep, you guessed it, they had the perfect team able to take down gods(or should i say goddesses) But once they lost Steel, they lost their groups fists and armor, making them basically powerless.
Most of you probably didn't need all of that explanation, and after typing this i just realized it. But, atleast i know it'll help at least one person to understand my point... That, and i'm too lazy to delete all i typed.
Colonel Autumn (Leaf) is Calamity's Oldest Brother. Kkat, I could hug you for that bit of misdirection from a few chapters ago with the failed negotiations.
Poor Fluttershy!
I heard this one in my head... RIP Futtershy.
Tunnel Snakes- Check sissies
Harold- Check
Notes: "Madness"..... Madness?....THIS. IS. FALLOUT!!!!!
"I began to wonder whether hornets still existed in equestria". *Sigh* I hate cazadors.
In a way Shy's still alive.
So.... Fluttertree and a stone angel.
So Rarity teleported Fluttershy to the inside of a tree?
Well good freaking job, Rarity
Oh, I see what you did!
...damn...
