5 - Bullying

Description: You see Fluttershy being bullied again and redeem yourself.

I waited in front of the school for Twilight to come out of her library.

Ha. Her library.

She had claimed it. It was hers already. By now she had probably lectured the librarian on how to ‘correctly’ categorize books, driving him and the rest of the library staff insane.

She had a way of about her, that she could be annoying and adorable at the same time. Maybe it was a female thing.

I waited for her to come by.

And waited.

And waited.

Minutes passed, but no Twilight. The majority of the students had already left for the day. I was alone by the front gate.

“Well…this is boring.”

As I say that, on cue I heard laughter. Not the kind Pinkie would have liked. It was the harsh, mean laughing that no one wants directed at them.

Fluttershy ran by me, weeping, her face buried in her palms.

“Fluttershy, what’s wrong?!”

“Haha. That was great! We gotta write those jokes down.” Those jerks from before heckled her.

Fluttershy ran off to the far end of campus, towards the trees and bushes. The bullies (who had not spotted me yet) stayed in the center of the front lawn, unafraid of any repercussions.

I looked for Rainbow Dash, assured that she’d show up to avenge her friend again.

But she didn’t.

She may have had a track meet or maybe that warning from the Headmistress was her last one, but the bullies acted like they knew Rainbow would not protect Fluttershy.

Yeah, says the kettle to the pot, I thought. I didn’t protect her either.

But maybe she didn’t need someone to stand up. Maybe she needed a friend.

I looked to Fluttershy, who was far away, then back at the bullies, who were so close to me that I could almost smell them.

(There would have been a choice here, to either Go Comfort Fluttershy or Stand up to the Bullies. If you Go Comfort Fluttershy, you end up on her route. But in this case, the story will continue as if you selected Stand up to the Bullies)

[Stand up to the Bullies]

I didn’t know how long they have been bothering her, but one time was too many. If someone didn’t tell them to stop, they would not stop. And Rainbow Dash couldn’t protect Fluttershy at all times. This needed to end.

“H-hey!” I got their attention.

“Well, well, well. It’s the new guy. You’re friends with Fluttershy, right?” Score spoke to me.

“Yeah. I am. What is your problem?”

“Why are you picking on her? Don’t you guys have better things to do?”

“We could start picking on you.” They all approached me.

“Why are you picking on anyone period? Are you that pathetic?”

“What did you say to me?”

“You know what I said to you. You just can’t think of a good answer.” I wasn’t scared anymore. I was angry. I knew what needed to be done. “What kind of sad, miserable asshole makes a small girl cry, and then laughs over it?”

“I think you’ve got a big mouth.”

“And you’re ugly. But I can stop talking and it’d solve my problem.” He picked me off the ground. Okay, now I felt scared again. As my leg dangles I realized that I didn’t think this through.

This is school kid. And you’re not learning the right lessons. I think we need to teach you a few.”

His minions laughed at me as he dragged me behind the school. I looked for a teacher, an adult…anyone. But when you need those people the most, they are never around.

He forced me against the wall behind the school. He squeezed my shoulder tightly.

“Hey. You don’t-” His fist flew into my stomach.

Then his other friend punched me hard in my right eye as I hunched over.

“Not the face dude. Don’t leave any marks or people will know.” They gave each other advice as they beat me up.

Score dropped me. I fell to my knees before I could catch my breath. One of them kicked my stomach, pointing the tip of his foot into my gut.

“Haha. Not so tough now, are you Loudmouth?”

“At…a...” I groaned.

“What was that?”

“…at least…I don’t picks on girls.”

He pressed his cleat on my knuckle and dragged it. A new scrape started bleed. His friends punched me a few more times before deciding I had enough.

“We won’t be so nice next time.” Dirt jumped into my eyes and mouth as he kicked the ground.

I waited for them to leave, not wanting to get up too quickly for fear they may see me stand and decide I needed more.

Breathing hurt. Dirt fell out of my hair as I staggered to my feet.

“…don’t cry. Don’t cry.” I whispered to myself.

I staggered through the hallways, limping on bruised leg. I made it to the men's room and judged their handiwork as I cleaned myself up. My eye had already started to swell and my left hand dripped red. Everything they hit burned.

I limped on my way back through the hallway.

It would have been easy to go to the Headmistress and tell her what had happened…but then I’d have to admit I lost. I’d have to snitch. Everyone would know I was humiliated, and those guys might come at me again.

Maybe Dumbbell was right. Maybe staying quiet was better.
