Celestia is gone. No-one knows how, or why. But all Luna knows is that it was Celestia's wish for her to take the throne of Equestria by herself, and continue to rule in her absence.
But Luna refuses to accept that Celestia is gone. She feels like she will fail, and that her sister will not love her anymore. But all it takes is a voice in the wind for her doubt to disappear.

The ending is a bit 'telly,' and the reveal of Celestia's body is kinda fast for something of that level of importance. Now that the criticism is out of the way—

I like where this is going, and I'll be fascinated to see how it continues. My concern, especially, is how the other ponies will see Luna's ascending to the throne; whether you'll handle the political ramifications of putting a repentant ex-usurper in power, or focus more on the crumbling sadness of losing a loved one.

As Tony Stark would say, Is it too much to ask for both?

Keep it up!

RAWR! ITS MIDNIGHT!

2860975 TAT COMMENT WAS SO HELPFUL. NOW LET ME READ THE STORY

Whoah. That almost hit something. The only thing is: alicorns are immortal. The way her dead got described was a bit lame. You couldn't goover some magical event that caused this, could you?
The story could be promising. Too bad it was a oneshot, and that it got labbelled as complete. D'awww.

Haha, thanks for the criticism. I didn't want to start myself another chaptered story because of my already-ongoing-chaptered story I have yet to complete, but perhaps I'll try and extend this when I have the time and a good plot.
For me, immortal means 'As long as you aren't very fatally injured you live forever'. So it's kind-of my headcanon that Alicorns can live forever if they aren't hurt badly by black magic or weapons made with untamed magic. So I'm kinda hinting that Celestia may have gotten hurt or cursed in some way, I'll leave it up to the readers to think of a scenario. (Just thought I would clear up the immortal thing :twilightsheepish: )
But anyways, thanks for commenting~!

Basically, your thought of immortality is agelessness. An ageless being cannot die of age, but can to any other way a mortal can. Just because of their age and experience, they're probably several orders of magnitude more powerful than a normal mortal.
