Lyra and Bon Bon discuss reincarnation.

Based off a conversation I had with Sunshine-Smiles.

I don't know what compeled me to write this. It was a fun little write, a look into Lyra and Bon Bon's life, I guess? I ship 'em at any rate. Cute couple.

Also, I amped the conversation with romantic overtones, I assure you that my actual conversation with Smiles was nowhere near this sensuel ;_;

This is different.

~Skeeter The Lurker

You do know that the ynever made glue out of ponies, right

Just figure I'd be THAT guy and point out a typo. Good job on the piece otherwise, boyo.

2748911 righto, fixed!

We all know that Lyra was a human in a past life.

Thought provoking. This actually put me into deep thinking. Consider it added to Twilight's Library :scootangel:

Awww. This was really good.

Another to answer nature's call, the triple bitch Hecate will be satiated

You're karmic balance has gained three levels

How thought-provoking.

2749000 is that a good "hm"?

2749033 Yay!

2749132 Always good to hear

1500 words where absolutely nothing important happened.

And I liked it.

2749278 It is, yes. For all its brevity, this fic got me thinking about the general state of religion nowadays something fierce.

Even though I don't believe in god, at least, in the conventional way, I am interested in the theory of reincarnation. +1, good job, Regidar.

2749930 explain yourself
what is this "huh"
is it edible

Found some typos
Fifth paragraph: "cooked it to the side"
Too-lazy-to-count-it-th paragraph: "cryptozoology corse"

Also, that was a nice, relaxing read. Good job.
Edit: and then I immediately leave the page without clicking the like button. What a twit.

Prepared properly... like tofu, it's not great, but in a moment of bored laziness it'll pass for something approaching food.

I used to wonder about reincarnation, and eventually came to an awkward conclusion.

As I read it, reincarnation assumes a number of souls exist that get passed around. I'm assuming (and maybe I'm wrong) that time and space don't have jack shit to do with that process. It's all supposed to be about cosmic learning, right? Sometimes that's going to mean jumping around a bit in time. Ruin your own life in the future, find your own secrets in the past, etc. So, sure, two people with the same soul could run into each other.

So then I asked the question that came to the awkward conclusion: Does there have to be more than one soul? Or could there be a single soul, passing from body to body across the entirety of time, trying to learn a lesson that is so enormous that it requires all of human consciousness and existence to learn it?

I stopped worrying about reincarnation and started worrying about what would happen if I was both of my parents, and I think I abandoned the concept after that terrifying thought, but I did wonder briefly if a story could be told in such a way. Have little pieces of lives, tied together as a narrative, and someone discusses reincarnation during it, and the whole structure would only become obvious by the end.

It'd be a bitch to write. I know I don't have access to LSD any more, so I can't even try.

2749930

I could not agree more! Deftly stated! A magnum opus of commentary!

2749948 alright, fixed those

2749950 is that also going to double as your critique of the story? :raritywink:

2749964 The way I see it, souls just keep moving around. They need a body to be in so they can interact with the world. Bodies are useless without souls. But karma is like an adhesive, or a magnetic field: if you have good karma you can enter a so called "higher being" if you have bad karma, you can only enter so far up the food chain.
Then again, this is all highly subjective and theoretical, so I don't even know

2749978

Yeah, but if the soul has a timeline irrelevant to our concept of time, then there's no reason that Body A couldn't have the soul at Point 1 in the learning process, Body B have the soul at Point 2, etc.

And that would still leave one body that had the soul "last". The "winner", if we're talking on the internet. (We -- we are, right? :unsuresweetie: I'm not really allowed to listen to the voices any more . . . )

2749985 they jump to whatever body is available, although I think there's more life on earth now than there was when life began...
maybe souls reproduce too?
then again, no scientific evidence to support souls, so I'm in the Bon Bon camp here

2749990

I'm an atheist. This is all theoretical fluffiness to me.

I always figured that after this one soul learned everything that had ever been learned and died for the "last" time, it shifted out of the reincarnation process altogether and set the reincarnation process into place, using the Newfound Godly Powers and such.

I should totally start a cult. :unsuresweetie:

2749978
More or less. I was expecting something more like bacon I think, maybe a Belgian waffle with a touch of syrup.

2749990

maybe souls reproduce too?

Mmmmm....That would be quite the clopfic.......
Fun little story, although that little candy bar fic kind of ruined my appetite for the bag of butterfingers that I have sitting in my fridge. Thx Regi.

2750021 I started a cult once
it was great

2750026 well, tofu is good for you so shut up and eat your fic— I mean, tofu.

2750036 :raritywink:

2750049

I know! I keep a second set of minutes in my Regidiary (TM) at every meeting! :pinkiecrazy:

Very nice, was short and sweet and entertaining.

“So,” Bon Bon asked Lyra as the two entered their shared living room. “What do you think we should do today?”

"The same thing we do every day, Bon Bon - try to take over Equestria!"

(My apologies - that was the first thing that popped into my head upon reading the opening sentence.)

2749964

I stopped worrying about reincarnation and started worrying about what would happen if I was both of my parents, and I think I abandoned the concept after that terrifying thought, but I did wonder briefly if a story could be told in such a way.

Might I point you in the direction of 'All You Zombies' by Robert A. Heinlein?

"Well, everpony runs out of luck sooner or later."

I think you meant 'everypony'.

Grab so more evidence, you know?”

I'm thinking you were going for 'some' here.

This was... Nice.

A rather thought inducing (somewhat, I was more invested on the character's dialogue) and cute story for a short read. I enjoyed it, Regi.

And it's okay, just keep on at it, and someday, Smile-senpai will notice you.:raritywink:

Not sure why she's confused at the end.

Eternal romance, how sweet.

2824231 Uncharacteristically sweet of me, but I figured I might as well try it out

Sweet story. I believe in reincarnation, though my memories of two past lives mainly revolve around my general living conditions and how I died.

2891315 Reincarnation just seems logical to me, assuming souls.

Some sweet LyraBon with some thoughtful theorizing here. Lyra's hippie mom was a nice, kooky, silly touch that seems very Lyra. I'm not sure how I feel about reincarnation on this level, but I've always been fond of The Egg (which is more universal consciousness than reincarnation with/without seed, but still).
