Everypony is born as they are. Yet, with a bit of magic, shouldn't one be allowed to bend the rules a little? For the good of a filly?

My words literally fail to describe this. I suppose it's something of an experiment wrapped into a single praline's worth of bittersweet. Why am I even writing this.

Scrapped ideas:
- Titling it "Lavender unicorn" or something the likes since it was originally conceived as a mockery of that. (And still is.)
- Calling her teacher Miss Edu Cator. Couldn't have brought that one along unless forcing it.
- Spending effort on this.
- Herobrine.
- Spelling the problem out so that the lay of the land would get it at first read. (That's the sort of people who have a Failbook account.) I assume that I didn't, anyhow. Wouldn't know. I am literally in the past right now.
- Actually using the words of lavender unicorn. Well, couldn't fit it in, I tried.

Eh...
You may have noticed that this begins to suck much more as it goes on. This is a clear case of an author writing something he just can't, in this case something other than slow, methodical SoL-style.

Anyhow. Maybe it isn't worth much as a story, but it definitely works on a higher meta sense. So this is what Glimmer did in the SatNverse, eh? As opposed to coming to Ponyville and getting love from Twilight Sparkle there (as well as her foal,) she stayed in Canterlot, got love, and pregnant. Well, constants and variables.
On that note, interesting philosophical question. If you were to take Midnight's consciousness and transport it into the Glimmer universe, would she be the sucky girl who never left Canterlot or the mare who took Twilight? Can it be considered her destiny to live with Twilight, so that it is she across planes? Or is the body of importance?

Anyhow. Since Light of Dawn is a unicorn here, and Glimmer's a pegasus, she must be carrying P/U. Interesting. References to old science that no one has read, wonderful.
She also carries pretty wrecked genes, seeing as the only daughter she bore is blind. But enough of that.

It was interesting, more than anticipated in preproduction, to think about how Light of Dawn (winner of the Most Ironical Name of the Year Award for eight years and running, by the way) would see the world. "Does a blind know that she is?"
Toph uses vibrations in the ground, which is a really stupid concept if you think about it, especially with hooves. Instead, many blind rely on hearing. Light also tosses in that everybody puts on half a bottle of deodorant daily so that she recognises ponies by smell.
Not to mention, of course, that her sense for the waves of beyond which all unicorns possess seems to be stronger than normal. Almost as strong as the Flow's princess's, one could say. Perhaps she even does see the world, only differently than we. Hmm.

Oh yes, almost forgot to mention, we did see her in the SatNverse already. I wonder if ponies then realised her situation. If only there was some plot event that conveniently dictates for Twilight to be in Canterlot right about now, where she'd be shown out of the hospital, catch up on her old friends, and find out about Light of Dawn. That would be a blessing, wouldn't it.

I was kind of confused at first...

(reads last lines)

Oh my feels.

Took me a while to figure out she was blind. But when I did figure it out at the end it made the ending that much more emotional. Great job with this. A nice little one-shot.

I usually like to respond to all comments as a sign that I do read them even though I sometimes don't really care about them, but you guys sort of ruined that. If words were pictures, here's a taste of what this comment section would be.

You all can feel bad now for only congratulating me on my awesomeness.
(Pretentiousness +7!)

Although, it's refreshing to see that I managed to describe it so that, forgive me for any puns, her blindness only dawns on you near the end.
Blind? She has true sight where others tumble about the darkness!
Shut up, Midnight.

Also, did anyone notice that this has exactly 40 words too many? Why does this keep happening to me?

My heart is hurt me. Nnnngh the feels :fluttercry: ... ... Beautiful
