HoofAndQuill

E

Rarity has had a long life, full of attention, glamor, and all that she had hoped for as a foal. Yet, as she sits down alone with her tea, she feels unfulfilled and lonely. Rarity muses on her life and the choices that have lead her to where she is.

NO words, just :raritycry:.

Okay, this was lovely. Seriously.

This is exactly how I'd imagine an older Rarity to be. She's quite wise and very honest (even if she sometimes tended to fool herself about a few things) and... maybe these are regrets? But I think she's very proud of her life, and it shows. Not in an egotistical way, but the pride of someone who did good things with her time, and enjoyed doing them. I certainly think her "assistant" would agree with that (and including him was a good choice. I don't think this story is nearly as depressing as you feared, mainly because he's there. They do love each other, and they know it, and I think it comforts both of them.)

This was an excellent debut in this fandom. The amazing grasp of character I've always enjoyed in your work elsewhere is still evident here. Fim needs more heartfelt fics like this.

For some reason spike reminded me of severus snape here, that was a true beautiful love, i really like when people portray his feelings towards her this way.

Sometimes being close and supporting is good enough... still, it's hard not to feel bad for Spike. I can't help but think Rarity is trying to fool herself about him :applejackunsure:

Aww..this was sad yet beautiful at the same time. Spike, a noble dragon indeed to the mare he loved. :fluttercry:

2639926 Sometime being close is all you can get. Sometimes being close is all you need especially if you can do your best to make them happy. Even if they never notice you sometimes it's the fact you're near by that counts. It dose make spike's life a lot sadder that the only only he pony he wanted to give his heart to never really returned his feelings.

I'm proud of Spike. Being the company Rarity needed to feel not too lonely. I'm kinda curious though. What are Rarity's thoughts on Spike? Does she know that he still has romantic feelings for her? What are her feelings for him? Other than these questions, I thoroughly enjoyed this fic. Thumb up.

That was a really good story on so many levels. Can't help but feel proud and sorry for Spike in staying by Rarity's side though she never fully reciprocated the love - making it a bittersweet love.

Spike, you are um noble dragon, bro.:raritycry::raritycry::raritycry::raritycry::raritycry::moustache:

This is beautiful, thanks for sharing it with us.

jeez spike, don't waste your time like that.
You've got your own dreams to follow, your own life to live.

2641313 He's got plenty of time. The same cannot be said for Rarity.

great story, i would feel bad for Spike if you had only written Raritys funeral

So beautiful, yet so sad.

So lovely, and yet...poor Spike. :fluttercry:

Excellent portrayal of a much more, um, distinguished Rarity.

2640112 Why does that look like Beakman?:rainbowderp:

I`m proud and yet sorry for Spike as he was willingly to stay with Rarity until the end. I guess this shows a more distinguished Rarity and I like how Spike is her assistant. You've done a great job.:raritywink:

Wow what an amazing piece of work. So much feels crammed into such a short amount of writing. I was actually a bit worried when I saw how short this was but I was glad I didn't let that mull my choice to read this. Excellent work and given the seal of approval for Twilight's Library :raritystarry:

A nice bittersweet narrative.

But perhaps even half her age was too old.

My favorite line.
My only complaint is purely "technical": teakettles go on the stove, teapots are for steeping. I know, I need help... :unsuresweetie:
A thumbs-up nevertheless.

sweet bitters. . .:raritywink::moustache:
