I'll admit, I haven't read a huge amount of RariLight (certainly not compared to AppleDash for instance), but all the ones I have read seem to fall into one of two cliches:
1. Rarity likes Twilight, Twilight is dense, or
2. Twilight wants dating advice, Rarity provides (and then some).
My first idea was a variation on the second and not very original or at all saucy. So this idea just sort of happened to be there, I tried to make it at least plausible.
Hmmm...I remember seeing something very similar to this, but I didn't make it so I can find it easily again...forgot the name, but it was basically the same as this: 15 shippings with all combinations of the mane 6...oh man, I just realised that there will be Apple Pies in this...

I did just write that as a throwaway gag, but it's an interesting idea and I may pick it up at some point as a proper story or a bonus short or something. I just have a bunch of other stuff already started that I want to finish first.

But on a serious note, neither did I until I read TheLastBrunnenG's short that I linked in the authors notes. Ever since MMC aired though, I couldn't get that smile that AJ gives Pinkie out of my mind. My shipping goggles went crazy right then even though ApplePie is still on the lowest rung of my personal Mane 6 shipping ladder.

Well, she did sweep her hoof past them as part of the gesture. I liked the imagery of Rarity's horn and Pinkie's eyes lighting up and that was the least awkward way I thought to write her cutie mark into it.
