Well you can always count the one in the chamber. Forsome reason I was trained with a 1911 acp .45. It sucks to take apart and put back togather like 50 times in one hour.
The Colt M1911A1 .45 ACP Semi-automatic Pistol, best damn sidearm ever, don't know why our military started using a 9mm pistol instead, magazine capacity perhaps? Still, 1911 is best gun.
3485523 I think a normal stock 1911 can hold 8 rounds, if you have 7 in the magazine and 1 in the chamber.
Actually, the first M1911 could hold eight, not including the one in the chamber.

Politics as usual. It was time to refurb or replace the pistols in-stock, except the majority was so abused by wear and tear since WW2, most would be scrapped.
In the meantime, NATO had been prodding the US to get with the program and standardize pistol calibers with them. It would seem money was passed around here and there, and... Oh, look! Beretta, a company from a NATO member nation, just happened to have a new factory in the US... (we really need an "AJ Lying" emote...) A little more money was passed around and Beretta won the contract instead of Colt or Browning...
Turns out wondernines dont work well on drugged up fanatics high on PCP, opium, khat or "Bathsalts"... Who knew?...

Speaking as a former armorer, part of the problem (not all of it, but part) was that a 9mm was considered by a lot of Europeans to be a "tag-out." As in "Oh, I've been hit by a 9mm, oh woe is me, I must either get immediate medical treatment from my own side, or surrender to the enemy to get medical treatment as a POW. "
The thought that a soldier might actually, god forbid, man up and keep fighting after being shot? Oh, the horrors! Oh, the vapors! Cue Rarity's fainting couch! How could a soldier be so ... barbaric?!
(Let's face it, after the horrors of two world wars in half a century, a lot of Euros did have plenty of justified reason for wanting to fight as if it were a game of flag football.)
Whereas the original .45 was designed with the intention of dropping a Moro warrior with a single shot and keeping him dropped, as plenty of the Filipino Muslims would actually get back up and keep fighting when shot with the standard .38 of the time.
An m1911 has 7 in the clip and one in the chamber. So it has 8
Is he british or american
4259261 yep.
*my mind* FUCKINGWORTHLESSEXTENDEDMAG

How is another bullet worthless?
4918781 Actually...
8 bullets is the amount a normal 1911 should hold.
7 in the magazine, and one in the chamber.
That's 8. No need for the extended magazine.
Why not Deagles?
4925287 I would assume he would have the M1911 already cocked and have one in chamber, on top of that, because he's in a combat zone.
5395782 'Cause they're peices of shit. That's just my opinion, though.
The US Marines like, and still use 1911s.
Same with the .45acp round.
I think the only other military group who still maintain 1911s is Special Operations Group Delta, aka Delta Force.

It's a nice pew pewer
9279681
The Air Force used them for ceremonial purposes up until not too long ago.
It would be 9 then one is always in the chamber
Tbh, I'm really debating whether or not to get a 1911, though I'm mostly torn between getting it in the original .45 ACP or getting it in 10mm, which if y'all don't know is like a modern quality, more powerful .45
