Apple family traditions. Deeds done for Apples, by Apples, stretching back beyond the Equestrian kingdom or even recorded history, fading into the ages of legends and myths. Most ponies find them quaint or even silly, but there's a reason behind every one.

That hat Applejack's always wearing? That's a REALLY good one, even if they don't know why anymore. Let me tell you a tale...

(Contains some violence, a bit of death, and transformation- and is a distant prequel of sorts to Memories of the Stone.)

Well, it was interesting, but as someone who knows next to nothing about the earlier generations of MLP, I feel like I'm missing quite a bit of context here. I don't really know what that "eldest sister" thing was supposed to be, or how much of this actually relates to things that happened in the show, vs. how much is made up.

Still, it is kinda neat to imagine a little lore for the Apple family stretching back through the centuries.

Applejack's actually one of the only ponies that goes back to the first-generation (aka G1) in remarkable similar fashion. In fact, she's the only one that resembles her original version in both look and name.

Megan's the human that ends up going across to help out the first-gen ponies in the original series, and happens to be a farmgirl herself...who ends up wielding a piece of jewelry that uses a powerful rainbow to defeat evil. Sound familiar?

I'll cheerfully admit to being inspired by another rather good FiMfiction story that's an excellent generation-crossover, A Mighty Demon Slayer Grooms Some Ponies- including the cover art.

As for the "eldest sister" bit? There's a reason it's a prequel to Memories of the Stone, where the Elements of Harmony are the fragments of an ancient celestial spirit who holds no love for Celestia or any of her little ponies whatsoever- and finds a way to (briefly) usurp their bodies and reduce the Crystal Empire to a glassy plain in the process.
