Short, but sweet. You can discern this type of dark from shock-value dark because you can see that the language used is polished and the narrative doesn't focus on the sacrifice's pain. Instead, this is a dark-because-dark story. Not a dark-just-because, mind you. The story is self explanatory and its intent is just to be a shortie. Something simple for a small, quick but nonetheless satisfying read.

OMG!!! I did not see that one coming! The Apple Family conducting a "filly sacrifice" and that unfortunate filly is Sweetie Belle no less? And I agree with your postscript that one would think that Scootaloo would have ended up in that situation, or perhaps even Diamond Tiara (seeing how much of a witch she is with everyone)!
This was a very dark fic that made me feel really bad for Sweetie Belle, not to mention Rarity (even though she's not in this story, she surely wouldn't take the news of what happened to her sister very well)!
I guess you don't like the term trollfic, but that's what this reminds me of. The good old days, "Here's some horses you like. Don't you like them? Well, fuck 'em. Fuck 'em to Hell."

2982693 Personally, I seem to enjoy stories without much back story. They allow the reader, in this case myself, to make up their own reasons as to why everything is happening. I like that, although that may just be me.
I just found you yesterday and I find myself wishing I didn't take so long. It is hard to find good dark stories here and, although it takes a lot to scare me, what I have read of your work has chilled me. Rest assured that I will be reading more of your stories, both past and future. I was just reading the shorter stuff last night because I needed to go to sleep and lacked the ability to carry and actual plot in my head for very long. But now that I am awake, I will read some longer ones. As soon as I have time.
