Flash Sentry doesn't really have the easiest time when it comes to kicking back and relaxing, not even on his days off. It certainly doesn't help when two of his friends won't stop talking to him about his love life, or lack thereof. After a while though, he decides it might be worth at least trying to find some companionship in his life, and so decides to speak to a mare said friends suggest to him.

Vapor Trail and Sky Stinger have been dating for a while, and the natural next step for them is for Sky Stinger to meet his girlfriend's parents. Despite Vapor Trail's warnings, their introductory dinner starts out on the wrong hoof and eventually leads to a question Sky Stinger must struggle with — does he deserve to be by Vapor Trail's side?

Throughout her life, Vapor Trail has been in the shadow of Sky Stinger, in the best way she could. She didn't want all the attention to herself and wanted to give it to somepony she found special. As the years have gone by, the two have grown close to each other, helping one another accomplish their life long dream: becoming a Wonderbolt. And for once in her life, Vapor Trail didn't want to be in the shadow of Sky Stinger, but in the light beside him.

With both of their dreams accomplished, they can now live the dream... that is, until Vapor Trail had another dream in mind. Because of her closeness with Sky Stinger, the mare developed strong feelings for him and wants to confess her emotions to him.

However, Vapor Trail was unaware of how challenging such a task could be. Vapor Trail has many resources to her disposal, such as teammates and various plots to get the right words out. But will that be enough? Can Vapor Trail get the message across? Or will her chances of being Sky Stinger's special somepony vanish like a vapor of steam?

After a Friendship Map mission runs long, Rarity and Twilight find themselves stranded on a train in a blizzard far from their homes and families.

The first night after the ending of the Wonderbolt Academy, Sky Stinger and Vapor Trail discuss unfinished business over evening tea. Because while their long, arduous month may be over, Sky still cannot relax.

Not until he knows why she did it.

Vapor Trail is an outstanding flyer, and everypony knows it. Sky Stinger knows it, too. However, Vapor has been hiding a part of herself from him for some very good reasons. Her true talent isn't flying, as she makes it out to be. Instead, her talent is something unheard of in the land of Equestria for the average Pegasus: Teleportation.

She so badly wants to tell Sky Stinger about her special ability, one that should only be an ability that of only a unicorn or alicorn can possess, but is afraid to let him in. She already feels like a freak, so how will he react to her unique gift of an ability?

Sky Stinger, trying not to fall asleep in a pegasus-themed gallery, once more asks himself what kind of friend Vapor Trail really is.

Once the aerobatic pride and joy of Stratusburg, he now has to live with the wind taken out of his wings. Oh, she gave it back again, only this time with uplifting words rather than with sneaky gusts. But he still remembers the shameful moment when she'd told him the truth, let him fly alone, and watched as he instantly failed a flip he'd "mastered" years ago.

What kind of friend, after all, would do something like that?

Being among the few to make it out of trials week and into Wonderbolts Academy, Vapor Trail and Sky Stinger know their next challenges will be among their toughest. However, they may have underestimated how difficult these exercises can be.

Luckily, one of their fellow trainees suggests an easier alternative to conquering the academy's infamous obstacle course. However, this suggestion is exponentially more dangerous than the usual method, risks angering Spitfire, and puts Vapor and Sky's relationship and their futures as potential Wonderbolts to the test once more.

It's hard to adjust to a new life.

That's what they say, anyways. This was not so for Vapor Trail: she adapted easily to life at the academy. That wasn't the problem, though, the only problem others notice is how she adapted: sticking to the sidelines while cheering him on.

All Vapor Trail wanted to do was ask Sky Stinger on a date. But as it turns out, Sky Stinger has a reason why the two of them can't go out.
