Long ago, magical life fled to a domed continent on the ocean floor. Ponies are Shifters (can change between their Equine, Anthro, or Human form). With the arrival of Harry Potter in their land, they learn humans are evolving into magic.

[SPOILER WARNING: This story is set after the events of Season 9, Episodes 24 and 25. Because of that, there are mentions of various things that would require watching the whole season for context. Reader Discretion is Advised.]

After the massive climactic end to the Legion of Doom, Discord knew that his well-intentioned actions had to be rectified in a big way. And since he was directly involved in some of Equestria's most recent events, he already knew who to apologize to first: The Crystal Empire's leaders - Princess Cadance, and Prince Consort Shining Armor.

Even though the couple were already aware of Discord's contributions -- more specifically, how he was the one who revived King Sombra to attack their Empire months prior -- the two were willing to hear him out after he made a formal request for a counsel. Fortunately for them, the remorseful draconequus came prepared with a sincere apology, as well as a couple of thoughtful gifts for the Crystal Empire.
Unfortunately for Shining and Cadance, one of those gifts may have not been nearly as considerate as either of them would've preferred.

A thousand years ago, Luna tried to create a new country where ponies could live under the strength of the moon. Her sister Celestia tried to stop her, saying that it would destroy the Equestria they lived in, but Luna didn't listen. A few years later a war erupted between Equestria and Luna's Moonlight Kingdom. When the dust settled, neither alicorn stood standing, and Equestria became locked in the dusk that the battle was fought in. That was one story that was told of Equestria, one whose fate is said to lead to tragedy...

... but it is one that no longer exists, and would never be known.

In the present, the sun and moon still shine high in Equestria's sky. Celestia and Luna some decades ago gave the throne to Twilight, and in time she shaped Equestria into a country even stronger then before. Yet even then, the sudden disappearance of both the old matriarchs and the leaders of the Crystal Empire has caused unwanted friction. Things stay at peace despite this, and for all ponies know the future is bright and beautiful.

Then one day a young pegasus by the name of Luminous strolled into Canterlot looking for a dear friend. No one knew the mare, no one had ever seen her before, and for unknown reasons she had no cutie mark. What is known, is that was the day everything started going downhill. Forces from times long gone, unknown horrors that ponykind has never seen, and another timeline abandoned and broken.

History seems doomed to repeat itself, that is but fact. We can't go back to how things are, and can't be stuck in the past. The only choice available now is to see what the future holds, and hope Equestria stands strong when no future was determined for it.

This is a reworking of an old series that I was writing back in 2016 called Descendants of the Night. You can still find that on here, but be warned that things in that story will seem drastically different from the one you will see here.

When The Student Six learn of Headmare Starlight's odd decision to have Discord teach them their final lesson of the school semester, the gang is the farthest thing from amused. Not just because of Discord's track record of creating trouble, but because they have come to learn the truth of him being the one who brought King Sombra back, the destroyer of their idol, the Tree of Harmony. Bearing a grudge, the students reluctantly go to Discord's lesson, none the wiser to the fact that there is a familiar villain lurking in the shadows, looking to manipulate the darkness within their hearts...

At the height of the Great Crystal War, Lieutenant Rarity finds in her camp a strange mare claiming knowledge of how to end it.

But first, they must survive the coming battle.

Celestia has often looked to the furthest edges of her kingdom when watching for dangers. Sometimes, she may even journey there, just to make sure things are on the up and up. Today, she goes to, of all places, the former village of Starlight Glimmer. But it is not the mare herself she has come to see, but the village's newest resident, who is not as unfamiliar to her as might first appear.

This story takes place in my MLP AU next-gen the gloomy verse and this is one of there stories
in this AU where Sombra was found alive after twilight became an alicorn and was reformed by her and the other Mane 6 and Shining armor and has been living in the Crystal Empire ever since.

Shining has had another hard day with problems with his marriage and Flurry's unpredictable magic surges. And after a long day, he went to Sombra just like he has normally done since they became friends and found out they had a lot in common. But this visit something different happens between them and in the end, a choice will have to be made and will everyone involved make the right one?

A lot can change from one argument. Cozy Glow wanted nothing more but to be somepony else. Anyone else. Instead, she was this little powerless pegasus that did nothing but what her mother demanded... what her mother planned! She was sick of mother's plans. She was sick of her own name! So, the filly took it upon herself to pack her things and run.

She had some family in the Crystal Empire. Perhaps it would do her some good to visit them? Maybe they could understand her issue. Maybe they could help her?

What she didn't know however was that her greatest mistake would be stepping into the Empire itself. After she walked in... she never came back out.
When King Sombra took over and dragged the entire empire along with him down his one thousand year banishment a little filly was caught in the crossfire.

Discord is doing a great job being a good friend, but he's been rather passive in the endeavor--he never makes friends of his own. Celestia decides to remedy the situation and complete Discord's redemption by having HIM redeem somepony special himself--our own late King Sombra. Classic Discord-erly antics and copious amounts of character development ensue.
