Starlight Glimmer is content with running her little village just outside of Equestria's borders. Having built from the ground up with her own four hooves a town where everyone is Equal, Starlight is satisfied. Ponies wander in and they decide to stay. There's no reason for her to return to her homeland.

Then Tirek defeats Princess Twilight Sparkle, and an undercover changeling tells Starlight Glimmer she's the last hope to save Equestria from the mad centaur.

It's a long road from being an angsty teenager to founding a cult, travelling through time, and nearly destroying the world in the process. When Starlight goes to college in Canterlot trying to find her old friend, she instead finds herself questioning a major pillar of Equestrian culture.

These things always start with the best intentions, don't they?

Twilight's been down on her luck for years, and mocked about her belief that the lost city of Neighlantis ever existed. But now, things for her are about to change as one Fancy Pants himself believes in this lost city of legend, and wants to mount a expedition to find it. However, the voyage to the deep dark corners of the seas is perilous and might just be no place for a scholar as many dangers await her, from monsters long forgotten to that captain who seems to have his own agenda about hunting these creatures.
