Everypony in Ponyville is celebrating the heroic return of the creatures who saved Equestria from Queen Chrysalis' evil kidnapping plot.

Everypony is happy to hear the news that the changelings, once the ponies' most terrifying enemies, have been changed by the power of friendship into something beautiful, something wonderful, and most of all, something friendly.

Maybe it's not the best time for Fiddlesticks to take Applejack aside to share her darkest secret, then. But secrets, like guilt and shame, have a way of burning inside you, demanding to come out.

The original speedwrite (in author's notes) was written for the Quills and Sofa's "Fiddlesticks" Speedwrite Contest, on Sep 9, 2023. This version was polished for publish since then.

It is a terrible thing, to lose the pony you love. Lightning Dust has been alone since Fiddlesticks died, and she can no longer conceive of any other way to be.

Fiddlesticks watched the two ponies in the gif embrace over and over again, and wondered how that would feel. How anything that Twilight Sparkle experienced would feel.

Lightning Dust will never be a Wonderbolt. When she left the Academy, she swore she'd never look back. When the Washouts disbanded, she swore she'd forget about them.

Yet after all these years, against all odds, she finds herself here. At a Wonderbolts show. Just on the wrong side of the glass.

Entry into a Sofa and Quills Speedwriting contest, where it placed first! Written in the span of half an hour (time limit was an hour but I had to go early) with the prompts 'candy' and 'bittersweet.'

A sequel to the story Salmon Run by my outstanding friend Mushroom. It is advised to read that story before this one, although they can realistically be read in any order. But you should still read it (it's very good).
