Over the last 3 years, Pinkie Pie's emotions about Rainbow Dash have been torturing her. But when Rainbow Dash makes a shocking announcement to all of her friends, Pinkie Pie finds herself in a very difficult situation.

Twilight did her duty. She saved everypony she could, except herself. Now trapped by an evil cult, in more pain than she has even been in before, and dying on a sacrificial altar, she calls for help. The Nightmare answers.

Will Twilight become the next evil to threaten the world or will the Nightmare simply be glad to have some freedom? One thing is for certain, Twilight's life will never be the same again.

During The latest winter wrap-up, a mysterious pony shots out of the sky in front of Celestia, Luna, and Twilight. Without knowing, they run to the pony who would soon destroy Ponyville and save it. Who is this pony and where did it come from?

Adagio Dazzle and Sunset Shimmer meet, and both discover the joy of having a peer with whom to plot world domination. The two quickly become close.

Then Sunset gets rainbow-blasted and reformed. This throws a wrench into things.

Fluttershy's animal friends have gone into hibernation or migrated away for the winter, and her pony friends have been kept busy with their seasonal duties. She is left along with her thoughts, and they mercilessly wear her down, causing her to doubt her life thus far amounted to anything. Some of her closest friends have to show her otherwise, or at least give her a shoulder to cry on. That makes all the difference in the world.
