I just completed formatting 'The Monster Below' for physical printing; the finished book will cost $5.89, is a 6 X 9 paperback with 232 pages, and includes the main story, the original outline with commentary, and the April Fools day chapter (moved to the back of the book, so it doesn't interfere with the flow of the main story). I haven't decided yet if I am going to do a hardcover copy of the story, and wanted to ask how many readers would prefer one.

Just another progress report on the revision of "The Monster Below": I just finished editing "The Boiling Point," which brings us to 82% completion. Currently, the biggest change to the story is giving the Guardians of Tradition a more realistic motivation for wanting to stop Silverspeak: They fear that, if mechanical limbs become commonplace and anyone can upgrade themselves, those who don't will be outcasts and left behind in society's march towards modernism.

My muse has graciously given me a sudden burst of editing juice for revising The Monster Below, and I've just completed revising chapter 20, 'I Destroyed Your Dream,' leaving only eight chapters left to go, which means the finish line is finally in sight. Still no idea when the revision will be complete, but it should hopefully be done before the end of the year.

Just wanted to post another update about the revision. I'm afraid that at this point, with so many non-pony things on my plate, revising the story has pretty much fallen to the bottom of the list. I'm currently on "Books, Scrolls, and Hidden Places," and do a page or two here and there, but until the clutter clears, progress will continue to be slow. It's not dead, but the revision is essentially in hibernation at this point. I'll post an update when it picks up again.

Time for another update on the printed version of "The Monster Below." Thanks to the help of my editors bathroomstahl and SecondSeraphim, we've been slowly but steadily updating the story, and today have completed the first third of those revisions with the chapter, "Letting the Cat out of the Bag."

Next update will come when we reach the halfway mark with the chapter, "The Next Wonder of the World."

As detailed in a previous blog, this is to clean the manuscript up by fixing any grammar and punctuation errors, tightening and condensing sections by removing redundant information, and generally bringing the quality of the writing up to date with what I've learned since the book was first posted.

I've talked with bathroomstahl, done some thinking, and I've decided to go ahead and work on getting the book into physical form. To that end, I've started research into companies that could do the printing, but just to forewarn everyone, this is an endeavor that's likely to take several months to complete, or even a year.
