I've been working recently at the latest chapter of "Danger Close", and I've run into a problem. I've wanted to let one of my characters have a speech impediment, namely an occasional stammer. But, not having any personal experience with anyone with this issue, and having no training in the subject matter, I can't help but worry about whether I can do this and not have the character just seem like a stereotype. Of the three stories that I have going right now, I've decided today to do some work on "Danger Close". The next chapter though is going to be tricky, as I have to balance the actual threat from the Storm King Invasion with the tedious process that the defenders have to use in a situation of limited communications to discover the threat. The scenario kind of reminds of the Pearl Harbor attack, where a fairly vague warning was delayed due to telegraph issues, while an actual warning was ignored

Decided today to acknowledge the obvious by putting "Danger Close" on hiatus. I simply haven't been getting anything done on it of recent, and I've been tempted to go in a new direction. I still plan, as of now, to tell the story, because I think that I've got a potentially interesting character who has an interesting story. But I think that she needs a different introduction.

I've been slowly moving forward on Chapter 2, and I've come up with an idea. I'm wondering if just maybe the story would work if I used "Saddle Row Review" as a source of inspiration. Of course, it would have to be quite different, and the interview format wouldn't be able to catch all the details, but it just might make the introduction of so many new details easier. Has any other author tried to use this template? I'd love to know how it worked for them.

Well, it's been a busy couple of months, and I find myself still trying to get things worked out. Physically, I'm still dealing with small issues related to my recent operation.
