If you've been waiting for a complete tag before you read it, or are looking for a novel to start reading this weekend, Sun and Hearth is now finished and posted.
Post-update blog for the penultimate chapter of Sun and Hearth. Last chapter and epilogue go up tomorrow.
Chapter 20 - Judgement is up now. Spoilers below the break.
Post-update blog post for Sun and Hearth, chapter 19 - To Deserve One Another
...actually, there really isn't one. I don't have a lot to say, and I had a bit of a mix-up with the last chapter that resulted in two different sets of edits, so I have to go through and reconcile them tonight. Everything is still on track, but having a bit of extra time this evening will make things much smoother.
Post-update blog for Sun and Hearth Chapter 18 - The Battle One Always Loses
Spoilers below the cut.
Only three more of these to go!
Post-update blog for Sun and Hearth Chapter 17 - Honor and Duty.
If you don’t remember how this works, spoilers in the form of author notes, ending credit song, and world building below the cut (but no world building tonight. Sorry)
Speaking of publishing… Sun and Hearth is ready to wrap things up. I'm going to post one chapter a day this week, with both the last chapter and epilogue on Friday.
I had talked about doing some kind of recap or summary, and I’ll include a brief, spoilered recap below, but as several people pointed out in the comments, it’s pretty impossible to recap this story…
Sun and Hearth is finished and the epilogue is with the prereaders now. Barring major rewrites, it should be published by the end of the month.
All said and done, it will be around 120,000 words -- 50,000 more than planned. And it will be finished about two years and two months later than expected. I'm not good at estimating.
Short version:
Sun and Hearth will no longer be updating weekly, but will be finished in roughly the same amount of time (somewhere around the end of the year.) The last five chapters will be posted all at once, when it’s done.
Long version:
A bit late, but still within the week, so I’m still on target. Expect the next chapter towards the end of next week, unless my prereaders go on strike or ask for a raise or something. I’m currently working them to death to keep this coming.
Anyway, spoilers for chapter 16 - A Very Good Excuse below the cut.
Ahem. A few hours late with this, but chapter 15 of Sun and Hearth is up!
I’m going to do my best to have chapter 16 up next Wednesday, Friday at the latest. It’s mostly done, but a sick kid and the holiday slowed me down.
For now, Post-Update blog for chapter 15 is under the cut. As usual, there are spoilers.
I just posted a new chapter of Sun and Hearth, with another chapter ready for next week, one that should be done by this weekend, and only four more chapters left to write after that. If luck is on my side, I’ll have it finished by the end of the year. If not, I’ll one hundred percent have it done by February, a year after I first posted it. Not bad for what’s going to end up as a 100k+ word fic.
As you may have noticed, the first chapters of The Spirit of a Pegasus are posted:
The update schedule is:
Chapters 1 & 2 today
3 & 4 on Saturday
5, 6, and an epilogue on Monday. Then it’ll be complete. If you wait until then to read it you’re looking at a little over 26k words.
You should totally read this fic if:
Those of you waiting on Sun and Hearth might have noticed I didn't have a chapter this week. It's totally my fault; I'm in a rough place right now, and I've lost a lot of enthusiasm for the fic in recent weeks. (Not in a "Oh, I'll just finish this and-- ooh, shiney!" way, but in a "...this is not going to end well." way.)
I mentioned a few weeks ago that I was overtaking my buffer… well, it happened. While I have most of the next chapter done, it’s not technically finished, which means I can’t be certain that it will be ready by next week. (With a similar problem going forward.)
Not only on time, but early! Here’s the post-update blog for Sun and Hearth chapter 12 -- The Castle of the Two Sisters. Spoilers below the cut as usual.
Late once again, but better this time. Spoilers for Sun and Hearth chapter 11 - Serpentine below the cut!
...is running a bit late tonight. But I didn't want to hold up the chapter, I hate publishing it when everyone is going to bed. So watch this space, and your regularly scheduled blog post will be along in three or four hours, depending on when human toddler Trixie goes to bed.
Here we go! Post-update blog is up for real now. Sorry for the delay. Standard stuff, read the chapter first, spoilers below.
Sun and Hearth chapter 9, "The Late Party," is up just under the wire tonight! Check it out first, spoilers below the cut.
If you missed it, Respect and Respectability is out. It’s a stand alone story about the same versions of the founders of Equestria that appear in Sun and Hearth. If you haven’t jumped into Sun and Hearth yet, it’s a fine place to start, and if you wanted more of the founders in Sun and Hearth, this is the story for you!
New story! Respect and Respectability is part of the same setting as Sun and Hearth, but it stands alone, so anyone can check it out. It was written for FanOfMostEverything's Imposing Sovereigns contest.
