This particular drawing was a really rough sketch of Wingston and Smolder. I normally do pencil sketching of real animals, which is rare doodle from time to time, and cartoons were not always my strong point. This was drawn back in 2016/17 where Wingston is asking Smolder if a “cupcake” was some sort of challenge. To which Smolder replies no.

Tom Petty was among my most beloved artists, my favorite song of his being "Learning To Fly", and these lyrics inspired the the premise of 'Smoldering It Over'.

It was a simple message that life could beat you down, break your heart, steal your crown, but we can still learn to fly; learn to overcome.
