I've been conlanging some more, and since some of the words this time are of Advancedverse relevance, thought I'd drop a pointer here.

Since I'm close to done with the next one, and no-one appears to have spotted the non-listed codewords in the last chapter, or at least no-one's claimed their virtual cookie for doing so, here's the relevant disclosure:
...was exactly what it says on the tin.
It turns out that there are some... issues... when the Alicorn of Love goes through puberty and the associated hormone-driven magic surges in the middle of a major city. My, that was fun to keep under wraps.
(There's now a special "In Case of Princess House" on a suitable remote island in the Great Celestial Ocean, because it would be even more fun to keep under wraps if, say, the Alicorn of Lust should turn up one day.)
(Canon to the Advancedverse, although it's deep background unlikely ever to be relevant.)
(Canon to the Advancedverse)
So, any of our friendly canon-wranglers have any references/estimates/guesswork/etc. to what it might be? Asking for a next chapter.
So, while ongoing contract crunch (ship software in just eighty hours or more!) is still keeping me from making much writing progress, I have at least been able to add to my stock of future chapter-heading quotes, one of which I offer to whet my loyal readers' appetites.
But first, a moment in Jeopardy:
“The answer is: the spinditzy!”
“What is a paragravity device developed by a certain widely-underestimated pegasus.”
So, mostly this is to tell you that I am typing away busily on the endlessly-delayed next chapter of Friendship is Sufficiently Advanced, Which as Celestia is my witness, I will post in 2017.
Possibly the strangest of the various solar cults on Equus is the cult of Celestia Clementia, i.e., "the Merciful".
(Loosely inspired by this: Sparkle-Date Me .)
sparkle (n.): the unit of magical potency; devised in 60 Y.H. by Star Sparkle of House Twinkle, whose work with the Royal College in recovering the arcane knowledge lost during the Discordant Era and in laying the groundwork for the modern scientific conception of magic is well known and discussed extensively elsewhere.
I posted this elsewhere in a comment discussing the sensicality of the Ponyville hydroelectric power plant ("Hoofer Dam"):
...and thought I'd post it here for y'all, too, seeing as I went ahead and whipped up some headcanon which just happens to be Advancedverse canon too about exactly what that's doing there.
Well, something about the site update seems to have broken all my nifty boxed footnotes.
...fixed just as soon as I figure out how to fix 'em.
...because just in case I need them, I am exactly the sort of person who would sketch out the plans of a satellite-based system capable of delivering a hot, fresh beam of Elements-weaponized Harmony (tm) to any point on the surface of Equus in under ninety seconds, along with notes on proper operation.
Why do I mention this?
So that I can publicly pledge not to consider placing the Crystal Heart in a second such system and calling it the Satellite of Love, of course!
"While Canterlot is the best known and the largest - qualifying as an actual city - dwelling on the Canterhorn, it is by no means the only one. Also known to the discerning traveler are Canter Junction, a small town supporting the railyard where the various railway lines across Equestria meet before ascending the mountain; Canterbury, a former mining village and now Nocturne town in the shallow caves below Canterlot; Canterhigh, an airship port and village located on, or in
So. Spurred on by conversations elsewhere, I have taken a moment or two to hammer out a first draft version of my concept of an Equestrian calendar for the Advancedverse - not that you shouldn't feel free to help yourself if you like it or any part of it - one that isn't what you might call strictly canon-compliant, but which does save me from having to cobble together an explanation for where all the Latin and Roman emperors fit in to Equestrian history, in re month names. (It also necessarily
...from some possible future point, because it was stuck in my writing-output-buffer, and nothing else is coming out until I clear it.
As an apology for the continuing lack of progress on the fic, have a snippet from the relatively distant future:
Kinda feeling it, though, recently, between a bit of a case of inspiration burnout that's led to me taking something of an unscheduled, unannounced writing hiatus, and a new contract come along for my day job that's taken up most of my brain for a bit.
However.
Trying to get back to it soonest.
Some quick notes on two things that are different in the Advancedverse, AU-wise, even before an alien fell out of the sky:
1. Since I'm effectively replacing Earth with Equus in this AU, for one reason, and since it saves time and confusion to not have more than one species of hominin running around, the Advancedverse does not contain Star Swirl's universe-crossing mirror. It contains an awful lot of Star Swirl's mirrors, just not that one.
You asked for it, and I provide!
(After I clean them up a bit, and probably after the next chapter, I'm going to add the Advancedverse geography notes as Appendix C, too, just so everything's in one place and it doesn't get lost in the blog.)
