Hey, folks. After eighteen months of hemming and hawing about it, I'm finally doing the promised updates and major editing pass to The Lawyer and The Unicorn. The early chapters especially need the latter as I read some of the stuff I wrote back then and wince. No more violet unicorns, more showing and less telling, and fewer ellipses, which I had tendency to severely overuse back then.
Just wanted to let everyone know that in the first half of the month, I'm going to start a revamp of The Lawyer and The Unicorn, giving it the same attention and treatment I gave Turnabout Storm last year. That means edits, cleanup, fixes, and even the possibility of some new content.

A milestone I'm very happy to reach, some three-plus years after its initial publication. 
In some ways, it's paradoxical--TLaTU is easily my most unpopular story in terms of like/dislike ratio, yet also my most commented-on one, not counting Turnabout Storm which wasn't originally mine. I daresay it's also my most ambitious and accomplished for bringing the impossible ship to life believably.

It should be a schedule I can keep, given there are 4500 words already written--I was halfway through it before I stopped to work UtM-NN in the lead-up to Halloween. I’m back home after getting up at 4:45 for this and dragging my gym friend out of bed to drive me there and back. Took a little more than three hours after I walked in the hospital door. Little pain so far and no need for the crutches they gave me as I’m walking fine without them. That may change as the painkiller they gave at the time wears off, but so far, so good.
So a couple months ago, my gym partner convinced me to start training to run a half-marathon with him. Feeling game, I began to, but pushed too hard too fast and didn’t upgrade my shoes or socks to something more suitable for running. I made it up to five miles, but the result was severe foot blisters... and a cartilage tear in my right knee that caused severe swelling and pain.
And I expect it to be ready by this weekend. As is my tradition with adult fiction, the story is going out with major fireworks in a two-part finale followed by an epilogue. Some of those fireworks I've hinted at already, but some...

As work proceeds on Firefly book 2, I am also working towards a new TLaTU chapter release. Part 33 currently stands at just north of 6000 words, and I have an eye on publishing it this weekend, most likely Sunday. What kind of chapter will it be? A mixture of sexytimes and summer fun involving the Fairgrounds, a Ferris Wheel, and some evening music. I have one last surprise to spring that will be hinted at here, but you'll have to wait one more chapter to get it. Expect this chapter to be
All prereads are in. Will publish chapter 32 tonight or tomorrow morning. Just need to write the author’s notes and get some musical selections added. As promised, the focus comes back to our favorite couple, and like all ending chapters will be quite adult.
As a bonus, expect cameos by a couple of notable Ace Attorney characters not yet seen. Aside from that, heavy TwiWright action ahead!!!! I cut loose on this chapter, so be afraid, folks...

Make that two stories completed this year, and TLaTU will be number three as I'm restarting work on it and intend to push it through to completion, alternating chapters with Rise of Firefly. TLaTU has been submitted for review, by the way, at the Reviewer's Cafe group, and was moved to "In Review" status yesterday. Should be interesting
