So I went to my bookshelf and pulled one of the junior novels I had read years ago and did a quick page count and then flipping to a random page did a rough word count (words per line x lines per page x pages of story in book).

My career in management is apparently being delayed in head office until around mid January.

That's good news in a way, I've got all my bases covered and (One Old Racehorse Management Inc.) is all ready, with no race to run. Guess I get to write now without looking over my shoulder for snap decisions form head office.

Its currently topping out in editing (which means release is close) at 7805 words. Okay, not the longest chapter ever posted on this site, but certainly my longest so far beating Ch. 6 'Beget a Foal' at 7545. So why the pregnancy statement? Because what is contained in those 7800 words is c. 65% of what was in the outline draft for the chapter!
