So last night I spent a good several hours talking with a couple friends about Fireflank. At first it was about a few important things I might change about the story at large (and most particularly my concerns that I may allow Wisp to come off as "too" talented magically), but as things progressed and more input was given, I became convinced that it would indeed be in my best interests to go over the story and rework things into a higher-quality state... again.

Just letting it be known that I'm now focusing again on Fireflank, having decided it best to work on the story that's actually at a fully writable stage. Doing at least a little bit every day.

May still touch on the newly-dubbed Fallout: Eclipse here and there, but it's just not ready. Also I'm going to try and tag (or not tag, as it were) these posts more appropriately, but as this one directly relates to Fireflank, there it goes.

So it's been a couple months.

kinda didn't accomplish anything, after the first few days or so.

Rewriting/Working on first FoE chapter was off to a good start, but I became promostly stuck. And you know what happens when I get stuck.

More than that, I've kinda been addicted to Dragon Age for a month. I replayed Origins (a week), 2 (another week), and then I got Inquisition a few days before Christmas (2 weeks), and just finished that last night, so...

So I've gotten very little written in the past week. A few paragraphs every couple days doesn't amount to much (although I think I've gotten to a spot where things will start opening up. Not to mention I've come up with some new ideas for the plot...).

However, I'm still getting something done, which means the story is no longer on hiatus. As such, I'm going to change its status back to "Incomplete." Wheeee

So it's been a little while, once again. Just a few weeks, I suppose, but that feels like a lot.

So I've been playing lots of Destiny, still. Having one of my long stretches of just gaming before doing anymore writing. It had to happen sometime, I guess. Lol. Still loving the game... Just don't get me started on how I don't really have the time for Wildstar right now.

About how he's been writing fanfiction for 3 years, how much he's improved in that time... And, I suppose, how he's close to being able to begin his intended career as a professional editor.

Probably actually higher. I did a lot today, and now I just have the main attraction left. I like to think I pulled it off relatively well, but we'll see how much I do or don't end up changing...

I've usually had a new chapter by now, so I think it's time for an update.

Basically, it's been slow going, but I've made it to a better spot. However, I've gotten wrapped up in Skyrim as of the past few days and may continue to be so for a little while yet.

New chapter's up, y'all.

Not much to say this time... Buuuut I might go back and make chapter 5 end with a proper scene. Have the ponies share some childhood war stories. Sounds fun, yeah?

And with or without that, it's just a guess but next chapter might take a bit. But who knows? Can't half-ass things at a fancy restaurant, ya know?

You might have noticed that chapter 2 is now 2300 words longer than it used to be.

Yeah.

I've just finished cleaning it up, making it more in line with what I've been putting out since chapter 3. Chapter 1 has received a similar treatment, but it didn't need as much work or hole-filling as chapter 2.

Now both chapters look nicer, and chapter 2 especially has more information to sink your teeth into. If you want an idea of Wisp's cutie mark story, it's here.

Up it goes. So pretty.

Sometimes it strikes me just how little happens in all the time I spend writing (over a week or so, and only 3-4 scenes? blah), but I'm pretty happy with how this chapter came out, especially it's ending. The next chapter's beginning will pretty much write itself, and that's the best kind of writing.

Just making a quick post to say that things are currently going slow with the coming chapter. I think it's similar to the chapter 2 problem: having a bit of a slump coming up with what to actually do and how to proceed things.

Buuut that may not be all there is to it. I think I'm gonna take a break once this one is uploaded, or again try to. I'm thinking that maybe I could use some time away from things to recharge again, because I don't want any repeats of the past, as I've said.

1) Although I still like the idea, I'm over the recency bias regarding Wisp's curved horn. I'd only made a small nudge to it in chapter 5, but it's gone now. I'll leave it up to the reader's imagination for now, but I again consider it straight. Lol.
