Red Dead Online and "Hickory Hill" · 10:02pm Sep 23rd, 2021

My inspiration for my last blog, the sad song I made, came from my time playing RDR2 and its Red Dead Online. My Grey haired Asian dressed in silver, black, and purple... and his trusty horse Silverfax...

Movie Review: Hell or High Water · 11:57pm Apr 4th, 2018

Before I saw Wind River, there was Hell or High Water.

A movie best described as a "neo-Western heist film," Hell or High Water is the story of two brothers in West Texas, Toby Howard (Chris Pine) and Tanner (Ben Foster), who carry out a series of bank robberies in order to have the money needed to save Toby's ranch from foreclosure. Hunting down the two robbers are a pair of Texas Rangers, Marcus Hamilton (played by Jeff Bridges) and Alberto Parker (Gil Birmingham).

A Blog With No Name · 11:50pm Aug 6th, 2015

Well, I happened to run across an old song at the same time I found a thread about people's O.C.s.

The result:

I expect it to be a shorter story, maybe three chapters at the most. So yeah, I'll make another blog post about it once it's all done.

Movie Review: Unforgiven · 7:42pm Mar 30th, 2018

I have a certain fondness for Westerns.

I owe that to my dad. He was a huge fan of Gunsmoke (both the radio and the TV show), and I have some memories of him watching episodes of the show on TV Land. He also showed my sister and I a few of the classic Western films of the John Ford era - Stagecoach in particular was one of them, although I remember I liked Yellow Sky a lot more.

Big Iron - LEGO style · 5:24am Jan 31st, 2021

I'm a fan of Marty Robbins, and I'm also a fan of LEGO. As far as I'm concerned, putting these two together in a single video is a real treat. :pinkiehappy:

Fire Emblem Echoes: Shadows of Valentia has been out for a week now in Japan and already things aren't looking too bright for the game. Without a doubt it has crushed the weekly sales compared to all the other games coming out this year by being the number one best-selling game in Japan right now.

High Guardian Spice: Flawed Brilliance and Fantasy Fun (Spoiler review/analysis) · 1:35am Oct 30th, 2021

(Note: This is an updated review to include a greater discussion of spoilers, and to elaborate on one or two points I could have made clear.)

TL;DR: Though far from perfect, primarily due to the rough-around-the-edges animation, High Guardian Spice does a wonderful job in presenting its fantasy coming of age story, building on common heroic fantasy tropes to great effect.

Lume Invades Someone Else's Review Blog... Again! · 10:16am Oct 25th, 2015

As it happens, Lumie did another review with Prane and Gulheru! About The One Where Pinkie Pie Knows, this time! They promised they'd let me go if I did one. But I'm still trapped in the basement with all the other reviewers. Why did nobody send help after the last review? :fluttercry:

G5 movie died with a whimper · 2:19pm Apr 15th, 2022

Well, after more than 6 months, it's clear that VIRTUALLY NO ONE watched the movie.

Only 3.4k total ratings on IMDB (compare with 21k for the "Halo" series which just started).

It ranks #2985 in popularity... lower than some old bad B movies. There was no spark for this thing. It looked like generic CGI, the story was bland and uninteresting, the villain was even less interesting and less threatening than a Diamond Dog.

Question of the Week #86 · 12:31am Dec 28th, 2022

Hello everyone and welcome back to the question of the week (hopefully nobody's getting sick and tired of that).

So in our last blog for this year, I wanted to discuss a tabletop gaming project that I've been working on.

I was thinking about this idea for a tabletop rpg where instead of rolling dice, players have their own deck of playing cards, with the cards having different effects based off of the characters class, subclass, etc...

Now I wanted to ask a couple things.

Oh hey! Finished up The Good, the Bad, and the Sentry. Which ... despite having a rather low view count, has popped up (however briefly) in the Featured Box? And it's in the lower-three slots which means that it got featured BEFORE, somehow? Guess y'all were just reading the story when I wasn't looking, I guess?

Fic-A-Minute: My Little Western · 12:49pm Feb 12th, 2016

I don't see too many western style fanfictions nowadays. Or ever, really. The show literally opened up the frontier but authors seem to be stuck exploring the area surrounding Ponyville. I mean really, what does that backwater town have that Dodge Junction doesn't?

Anyway, today's spoiler shield brought to you by the letter T.

A Tale Yet Not Told in Full · 12:20am Dec 1st, 2016

In the small town of Lord's Junction, a village that only existed because of the crossing of two railroad tracks, one going north and south, the other going east and west, there was a woman, a young woman that sit quietly in a cell of the sheriff's small, but unusually clean office. The office only had two cells and the other one was empty, save for some flies that flew through the barred windows. Their buzzing was so loud compared to the only other noise: the floating of the dust. The place

As I guess I'm ... okay?

At least in the grand scheme of things. I'm lucky like that. I've mostly buckled down, and I've ... kind of gotten into a routine? Maybe? It's funny, as there were times I was like 'oh man if only I had time to just hang out and write and play video games' and OH HEY I JUST GOT MONKEY PAWED.

Stupid dramatic irony.
