Torn is on hiatus · 12:28am Jan 13th, 2021

I'm not overly fond of people leaving stories on incomplete and just leaving them sitting indefinitely. Fimfiction is full of stories that are abandoned but never moved off of "incomplete". So I might as well admit that Torn isn't something I'm working on, and place it on hiatus.

Collaborative storytelling · 9:25am Aug 24th, 2020

So I've mentioned before that Gowak (formally Wendy Gowak) is my writing partner and you should all read her work. Well, I've got yet more reason for you to do so: We've now got not one, but two collaborative stories!

Actor Rip Torn has passed away at 88.

You probably knew him from MIB 1&2 Or Zeus from Disney's Hercules.

RIP My friend.

Updates may be slow this month · 8:58pm Apr 10th, 2016

I think I posted the last blog to late in the day so like no one saw. I hurt my left thumb about a week ago picking up a heavy bag. It got swollen but calmed quickly so I didn't bother going to see a doctor. Yesterday I finally went to Urgency Care because it kept hurting more and more and was going into my wrist. Doctor says I have something called Game keeper's thumb. A torn tendon. So I'm supposed to call the local orthopedic tomorrow and I have to wear this...

Well everybody.... A couple weeks ago I tore one of the muscles in my right arm. Now today at my birthday party someone slammed into me (right arm taking the full blow) and screwed the already tore one AND tore a new one. Now I have a sling.

What I'm up to · 12:17am Jul 17th, 2015

Between recovering from vacation, some precarious events yesterday, and a doctor's visit today, I've had no time to update Pinkies Party just yet. The doctor told me to quit caffeine completely, get some better sleep, and try to manage my anxiety. This will probably result in me being very tired, and not in any mood to write for a while. (At least until I recover from lack of caffeine) :ajbemused: Since I won't be able to update like I wanted , here's some other stuff I've done lately.

I've been writing a little more than usual recently. Also, Torn Like Cotton now has a simple cover art. Nothing too special, just something I quickly made on the fly. At least it makes for a decent placeholder.

Ivory Tower · 7:13am Jan 21st, 2018

Oh, lonely tower made of bone
days of endless sun shone
and made you unready for flights of rain
that made breaches of your walls that forever stain;
the cracks and the voids in a tool now useless
to show your life as one that was ruthless.

O' tower, your tyranny delights in the flights of fancy
your material expensive. exotic. chancy.
In glory divine, in destruction divide
is it really not clear why your enemies hide?

Is there naught in your reign you cannot justify?

Review: Marie Antoinette (2006) · 6:18am Dec 1st, 2015

In Marie Antoinette, writer/director Sofia Coppola attempts to pain the last queen of France as just another teenage girl, who, by the cruel hand of history, was thrown into a world that she didn't understand.

However, as noble as the endeavor to humanize Marie Antoinette might be, Coppola fails spectacularly, creating a film that is high on kitschy style, but absolutely empty of substance or insight into Marie Antoinette.

Putting in a Tape: FLASHPOINT (1984, Thorn EMI) · 5:45pm Jun 27th, 2016

Today, we put the 1984 film Flashpoint, the first theatrical film produced by Home Box Office (in association with Silver Screen Partners), into our VCR. The film was one of at least five American films to present a dramatization portraying the Kennedy assassination as a conspiracy (the others being the 1973 David Miller film Executive Action, starring Robert Ryan and Burt Lancaster, Oliver Stone's 1991 movie JFK, Warren Beatty's
