I went to a very good lecture this week at the Oxford Museum of Natural History, by JRR Tolkien. Not quite in flesh—the museum does not have access to the writer himself (he died in 1973) any more than they have any live dinosaurs, but they were able to reproduce his spirit in about the most convincing way possible without resorting to the sort of necromancy that would not be approved by the university ethics committee.
Yeah I wouldn't normally make something like this, but after dealing for five years with these people and how verbally abuse they've been to others, I think it's time for some proper revenge.
something that occurred to me while listening to the poetry of J.R.R. Tolkien's
Fall of Gil-galad
the fall of princess Luna
Luna was an Alicorn queen.
Of her, the harpers sadly sing.
the last whose realm was fair and free.
between the Mountains and the Sea..
Her sword was long, her lance was keen.
Her shining helm afar was seen;
the countless stars of heaven's field.
were mirrored in her silver mane.
But long ago she rode away,
and where she dwelleth none can say;
I have a shameful confession to make:
I've never read Lord of the Rings.
I've TRIED, but Tolkien's prose is...agonizingly slow for me.
Back in sixth grade, I read about a third of The Hobbit.
I played a lot of AD&D. I loved re-reading in the big hardcover manuals (2nd edition) about the fantastic creatures and the skills and magic to tackle them. I loved the pure yet varied geometry of the dice, the infinite potential of the character sheets. So I was surprised to realize recently that I hate D&D.
Song of Durin Luna
Former by J R Tolkien
The world was young the mountains green
no stain yet on the moon was seen
no words were laid on stream or stone
when Luna woke and walked alone.
She named the nameless hills and dells
she drank from yet untasted wells
she stooped and looked in mirrormare
and saw a crown of stars appear
as gems upon a silver thread
above the shadows of her head.
The world was fair the mountains tall
in elder days before Night Fall
So apparently some people are actually interested in the Quenya used in my deer clopfic?
As I said in the Author's Note, I didn't keep translation notes, so I actually don't know what some of these sentences mean, but I've retranslated a portion of it (the first 40% or so of the story), along with some linguistic notes. I might do some more translations later, though likely without the grammar explanations.
I really don't feel like writing right now, so here's the rest of the translation notes for Maileheri Mirwa ar Undómë-Aranelirya. Prior knowledge of the first part of the translation notes is assumed.

Those of you who have been following me for a while may know that I have an interest in Quenya, a dialect of Elvish created by J.R.R. Tolkien and most famously used in The Lord of The Rings.
Let's lay a little groundwork first.
I was checking out the front page here on fimfiction and was generally not finding anything interesting when I took note of how many 'human in Equestria' stories there were. I'm not really a fan of the genre and so, in my lame attempt at trying to get the audience in my imagination to side with me about human in Equestria stories being a kind of tired trope, I started thinking about ways of subverting the concept.
Shepherd looked down upon the Pelennor Fields, as the Rohirrim charged upon the armies of Mordor. He smiled, almost grimly, as the Riders of Rohan rode to sweep the orcs heroically.
He blinked, as Twilight appeared next to him.
Shepherd: "Eh?! Twilight?!"
Twilight: "Ah, I'm sorry Shepherd. I was experimenting with a dream walking spell Luna taught me... I can leave if you'd like-"
Shepherd: "No, no... It's okay. Anything to help you grow in your education, I guess."
Newest chapter (173) of Rebirth of the Damned is finished^^ Currently being looked over by my editing team, you can expect it sometime next week I think.
He departed yesterday for his last and longest adventure...
Farewell, Bilbo Baggins. Farewell.
Hi, sorry for being silent for so long Was busy, had minor health issues both myself and in family, then tried focusing on getting the chapter done...
Let’s just say that I’ve been spending some time away from FiM in media and leave it there, okay? Now, this doesn’t mean I’m pony-free, no, not at all. Besides having the collection of figures and other collectibles grow at a rate that has been unprecedented—the post-holiday purge of parents and retailers—a lot of my time’s been spent reading about previous generations of MLP, both toy lines and their related media. While previous generations were not the initial inspiration for “In Dreams”
